The job:
The successful candidate for this job will pitch, report, and write a variety of stories, from newsy pieces to trends to service articles. This person will also be responsible for administrative projects, including ongoing daily tasks as well as managing occasional projects. The ideal candidate is resourceful, organized, efficient, creative and an accomplished multi-tasker who has a passion to for all the topics Real Simple covers. Editing experience is a plus.
You Will:
• Pitch story ideas daily.
• Report and write stories quickly and accurately.
• Participate in staff brainstorming meetings and contribute ideas across all platforms: print, digital, social, audio and video.
• Identify and produce stories that further the brand’s goals, including audience engagement and affiliate sales.
• Support one to two editors in administrative tasks including calendar coordination, expense reports, travel booking and contracts.
You Are:
• Experienced:We’re looking for someone with three to four years of experience, including internships, in the editorial sphere.
• Proven: You are a problem solver, able to roll with a changing environment. You’re also familiar with working in or with large organizations and leading projects to completion. You can juggle tasks and set priorities with minimal oversight.
• Communicative: You practice precision communication, able to deliver full information to help editors make the right decision the first time. When human error happens, you own the mistake, propose solutions, make things right, and move forward. You work effectively with many types of personalities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional: You present a poised and mature attitude that instills confidence in people inside—and outside—the company and represent Real Simple in a polished, professional manner.
