The Role
We are looking for a talented, high-achieving individual to join Crunchyroll as our International Content Acquisitions Lead. Today, Crunchyroll is globally recognized as the premiere destination for streaming anime, and has cultivated a brand of everything anime - video, events, community, eCommerce. Central to the company's growth is the ever-growing library of top-notch anime titles.
Crunchyroll's content acquisition mantra is dually focused on acquiring the best simulcast titles each season, and acquiring key catalog content in the various languages Crunchyroll offers (and expands) their services toward. That's where you come in.
In this role, you will work with various internal stakeholders and international partners to acquire key catalog content for a variety of different languages. You will help identify key gaps, content opportunities, and acquisition initiatives and lead the effort to grow Crunchyroll's content offering across the globe. You will interface with regional leads, Japan partners, and senior leadership on a regular basis. You will be responsible for securing the best and most impactful content for Crunchyroll internationally.
This position requires the flexibility to travel globally, and will report to the GM of International at Crunchyroll.
Responsibilities:
• Identify key catalog content gaps in each language offering
• Seek out strong content segments that fill strategic and service gaps
• Negotiate and procure the right segments of catalog content
• Develop strong relationships with regional teams and partners
• Evaluate deal memos and draft content agreements with external parties
• Analyze content performance and overall acquisition metrics
• Work with international team and rights team to define acquisition roadmap
Requirements:
• 3+ years of work experience in the tech / media space, working in a fast-paced environment
• 3+ years of work experience in content acquisition and procurement (anime industry relevance preferred)
• Experience working in a distributed team environment, especially with global stakeholders
• Experience working with external partners, publishers, and distributors
• Strong understanding of digital landscape and anime/comic/games industry
• Strong relationship building and inter-personal skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of anime industry a strong plus
• Willingness to travel globally for face-to-face meetings
