Overview
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Solutions Manager in the I.T. Department to provide business and technical expertise in identifying, defining, and implementing online and consumer facing solutions to support HarperCollins’ digital commerce and marketing needs. The Solutions Manager will be required to work with the business to identify new and emerging technologies, and collaborate with internal development staff to design how to apply these technologies to the publishing business.
Responsibilities
• Manage the pipeline and development of marketing websites for the HarperCollins, and HarperCollins Christian business
• Identify new and emerging technologies and work with internal stakeholders to build and deploy
• Conduct workshops and design sessions to facilitate collaboration between the business and IT, set priorities, and design solutions
• Deliver products for the business using agile methods, iterative development, as well as waterfall SDLC
• Manage a suite of tools and services to support HarperCollins ecommerce, online marketing, affiliate sales, online discovery, and digital content distribution
• Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, reduce high-level information to manageable details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from their underlying needs
• Create and extend documentation around new and existing projects and procedures
• Communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements, Business Requirements Document, Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs)
• Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external) and the software development team through which requirements flow
• Engage in multiple initiatives by delivering on commitments to the business, while engaging in discovery of future initiatives
• Collaborate with project managers, developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between scope and timing, usability and functional needs
Qualifications
• 5-7 years related experience in I.T. product management
• Experience deploying and managing digital solutions related to ecommerce, digital marketing, web/app products, and digital innovation
• An understanding of online product development leveraging internal and external services to rapidly deliver solutions, and effectively iterate to achieve incremental short-term goals
• Experience with online marketing concepts, including online personas, identity management, social integration, loyalty programs, and affiliate programs
• Extensive experience using WordPress and available plugins to deliver websites
• Strong analytical and product management skills required, including understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including business executives, managers, subject matter experts and technical personnel
• Ability to work with the business to identify and prioritize projects, drive delivery, and support the ongoing operation of tools and processes
• Team player with proven ability to work in a dynamic, evolving work environment
