JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for daily reports and audits of Casino financial activity. This position will work in all areas of financial accounting for the casino.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reconcile daily banking information and provide monthly analysis related to bank accounts, credit card batch submissions, patron checks cashed, and receivables.
• Provide monthly reconciliation of cash clearing accounts and deposits in transit.
• Assist with the accounts payable process and ensure that A/P aging report (subsystem detail) balances to general ledger control account total (liability account).
• Participate in counting/auditing inventory on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Maintain fixed assets and related documentation including CERs, POs and related vendor invoices for each project.
• Participate in monthly close and prepare journal entries and reconciliations in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with annual capital and financial operating budgets.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting package for management.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and assist with testing.
• Assist with the internal and external audit process.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in public and/or corporate accounting preferred. Should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and possess a strong energetic work ethic, keen analytical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Beneficial experience includes month end close, financial analysis, financial reporting, account reconciliation, inventory, assisting in the budgeting process, and proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Great Plains experience is a plus.
Must be able to stand/walk/sit for extended periods. May be exposed to working in a noisy, smoke/secondary smoke environment.
Must be at least 21. Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing. Must be able to pass a background investigation.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Four-year Degree in Accounting.
