JOB SUMMARY:
The Dealer is responsible for dealing table games professionally, accurately, and according to policies and procedures. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Company policies, practices, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the operation & conduct of a particular game.
• Responsible for maintaining & protecting the bankroll at all times.
• Must be able to handle gaming cheques in a proficient manner.
• Must be knowledgeable of Poker rankings.
• Must be proficient at shuffling and pitching cards.
• Must be able to accurately convert currency to gaming cheques, calculate, rake, and color changes.
• Must implement approved policies and procedures in the performance of duties.
• Must provide quality customer service to all our patrons
• Must be able to provide “hosting” duties to Poker Room guests on a rotating basis. These duties will include: Greet players at the podium with a friendly smile and a welcoming attitude, Convey to customers what poker games are available and at what limit, accurately adding player’s names to the game lists and providing information about the requirements of the games, calling names of waiting players on lists when seats become available and coordinating with floor persons to ensure players are properly seated in requested games, When directed by a supervisor, announcing new games and calling names of players waiting for such, properly answer the telephone, providing information to callers, recording messages accurately and passing them on to appropriate party, transferring calls to appropriate personnel as determined by customer’s needs.
• Have a detailed knowledge of all Poker Room activities, such as tournaments, “Bad Beat” jackpots, promotions, etc. so as to accurately inform customers when requested.
• Provide quality customer service to all of our customers.
• Provide support to other Poker Room staff as necessary.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
Trained and/or experienced in all aspects of Poker. Required to satisfactorily pass a gaming audition administered by a Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort Casino supervisor to verify that the applicant is knowledgeable in the following areas: Technical skills, Game pace, and Aware of game protection responsibilities. Able to determine winning hand and pay-off pot in a timely manner.
Able to calculate and process side pots. Able to verify and maintain integrity of the play cards from the time they are initially opened to the time they are bagged for security. Must be able to accurately describe and reenact a situation to the supervisor when an error or argument occurs. Able to follow instruction. Overall accuracy & proficiency. Must be knowledgeable of West Virginia’s gaming regulations, as well as, company internal controls, policies, and procedures. Initiates and promotes positive customer relations. Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel and Power Point.
Must be able to stand/walk/ sit for extended periods. May be exposed to working in a noisy, smoke/secondary smoke environment.
Must be at least 21. You must be able to obtain a Level 2 Table Game License through the WV Lottery. Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a WV Racing License.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
*Any employee performing regular duties within gaming areas will be monitored using video surveillance.
