Under direction of their direct management, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and directing the activities of between 1 – 5 project managers. They will also be responsible for the implementation of projects, varying in size. This person will have a primary focus on Network Management infrastructure projects, including overseeing the scheduling of hardware/software upgrades and implementations. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for development of Request For Proposals (RFP), Vendor management, project tracking, reporting as well maintaining project scope, and cost.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business (or Management), Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required; a Master’s degree (or equivalent) is a plus
• 9 or more years of project management responsibility, demonstrating leadership skills and managing technical staff and financial resources through various life-cycle phases (cross functional experience highly desirable)
• 6 or more years of information systems or relevant business experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms.
• Experience in full systems development, software development and project management life cycles with both custom development and package based application deployment
• Experience managing systems development/implementation in new computing architectures and environments (e.g., client/server, Web)
• Formal project management training/certification (e.g., Project Management Institute).
• Leadership skills promoting development of a multi-disciplined team consisting of project administrators, software developers, database administrators, business analysts
• Strong oral and written communication skills; an ability to present and discuss technical, functional and managerial information clearly and concisely, establish rapport, persuade others, and gain understanding
• Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; an ability to interact with customers, staff, senior management, vendors and contractors
• Ability to effectively manage in an environment where full time employees and consultants work closely together and are often interchangeable
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and adjust priorities based on workload, management directives, and customer demands
• Proven ability to build customer relationships and respond to customer needs
