Description
Fox Sports Media Group (FSMG) is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to work in the General Accounting group. This position is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for multiple large companies, including variance analysis, Balance Sheet reconciliations, Cash Flows, and various monthly, quarterly, and year-end schedules as needed. The position also encompasses maintaining and ensuring that the highest level of efficiency and appropriate internal controls are in place. The individual must be detailed oriented, pro-active, organized, focused, and possess strong analytical and technical skills. This person must be able to interact confidently with all staff and management levels. This position will at times be required to serve as back-up for other employees within the department.
Responsibilities
• Prepare journal entries in Excel and post in E1/GL system. Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple large companies with more complex transactions as part of month end close. Prepare monthly and quarterly Joint Venture reporting packages. Prepare & explain monthly P&Ls & Cash Flow variance analysis. Interact with the network finance staff through open communication.
• Interact effectively with other departments and the network finance staff to foster a positive work environment at the highest level of efficiency. Take advantage of the system and other application resources available to the department (i.e., E1, Microsoft Excel, or other reporting applications). Provide suggestions for process improvement.
• Update and maintain monthly G/L account analysis. Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations, Bank reconciliations, analyze trends and costs incurred. Interact with other departments to ensure that all reconciling items are corrected in a timely manner.
• Assist Finance staff with operational analysis, cost analysis, and other related requests.
• Prepare quarterly/annual reporting schedules for 21CF Reporting.
• Assist with Audits and preparation of audit schedules (Internal/External/SOX 404).
• Assist with special projects requested by departmental and executive management, including preparation of monthly management package and ad hoc analysis.
• Work with IT to develop financial reports, enhance reporting tools and implement changes based on operational needs.
Qualifications
• BA degree in Finance/Accounting with CPA and audit experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of Accounting concepts and GAAP.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an Accounting role is necessary.
• Previous experience in media, cable advertising sales, traffic and the sports broadcasting environment is strongly preferred.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• High mathematical and analytical skills required.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Strong PC skills, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision while effectively meeting tight deadlines.
• Ability to be pro-active in resolving financial issues.
