The Digital Marketing division collaborates with local and national teams at WGBH to maximize online engagement and revenue. The division drives technology and strategy, and specializes in one-to-one relationship building to ensure that the Foundation is fully leveraging all resources including membership support, content, marketing and social media, and content management systems (CMS). The Digital Marketing division also aggregates data across platforms, and produces content for local and national projects, and the WGBH-led Contributor Development Partnership (CDP).
The division is comprised of experienced digital savvy, product, technology, design, and development professionals with a rich understanding of media, production, and marketing.
Position Overview
The Digital Content Writer for Digital Marketing Services, reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing Services, is responsible for creating and managing a variety of digital communications. This includes creating new content for marketing, writing fundraising copy, reviewing and updating existing communications as well as versioning, editing and proofing fundraising communications. Responsibilities include developing compelling direct response messaging, utilizing digital marketing copywriting best practices to construct effective digital fundraising solicitations. The Fundraising copywriter works on behalf of WGBH’s Local Development and Marketing program and all of its affiliates and client stations. Also serves as department liaison in cross-team meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
75% Develop, write, proofread and edit digital fundraising communications for WGBH, its affiliates as well as its public television and radio client stations.
20% Participate in campaign development and post-campaign analysis meetings
5% Serve as department liaison in cross-team meetings
Skills Required
5+ years writing content, copywriting, and editing effective campaigns across multiple channels.
Persuasive writing skills and a strong understanding of fundraising and digital marketing copywriting best practices.
Strong project management and writing/editing/proofing skills required. Experience in public media or mission-based organizations is preferred.
Familiarity and experience with marketing automation software, email automation systems, collaboration tools, and general office software applications (e.g. MS-Office).
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Marketing or another related field.
