Description
Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY and WMYT, the Fox Owned & Operated television station serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking a Vice President of Engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operations of stations’ broadcast equipment including daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology to produce efficient, flawless TV Station operations. Must effectively manage engineering, master control, production, news technical, facilities, security, MEP systems and tower/transmitter. Must develop and implement strategic, current and long range technical and technological operation plans, prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee the preparation of both current and future capital plans. Develop and maintain station’s disaster response plan. Must possess the ability to establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and studio operations. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of all broadcast systems, government regulations and industry standards to ensure the television stations’ technical compliance. Must have significant technical expertise in the planning implementation and maintenance of television station and RF facilities. Understanding of digital and automation technology is essential. Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management through excellent verbal and written communication. Must possess strong attention to detail, accuracy and strong organization skills. Must have the ability to direct and motivate the technical staff and work well with all station departments. Knowledge of ELC and iTX environments is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in electronics/electrical engineering preferred and a minimum of ten (10) years broadcast engineering management experience required. SBE certification is preferred. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software a must.
