Overview
WJW, Cleveland’s #1 television and legacy station, is seeking an experienced, creative producer for the country’s top-rated, award-wining locally produced daytime entertainment/talk/food and travel shows, “New Day Cleveland,” effective immediately. The essential initiative for the producer is to conceive, create and execute entertaining and informative segments and full hour-long shows—including researching topics, booking guests, scripting/writing show and hands-on involvement in both in-studio live productions and on-location taped segments and programs.
Responsibilities
Create and produce segments and/or full hour-long themed programs for daily edition of “New Day Cleveland.”
Be able and prepared to write the script and copy for entire hour-long studio shows and hour-long travel shows within a rotation of producer responsibility.
Be proficient in all aspects of social media so you can contribute, write, post and help manage our various “New Day Cleveland” social media platforms
Submit segment and show ideas daily that will inform and entertain viewers and result increased viewership and ratings for the program.
Become an invaluable part of a productive, creative team that will consistently manufacture outstanding ratings & revenue generating content for the greater, collective benefit of “New Day Cleveland.”
Serve as the ultimate team player and be extra willing to support fellow producers as well as technicians, hosts, staff and crew in support of the program. Selfish, jaded, negative, personal glory seekers need not apply.
Be willing to serve in any capacity including in-studio floor crew, floor director, on-line producer, guest relations, contesting, viewer travel events, control room support, teleprompter and other duties as required.
Be prepared to actively participate in group “think tank” discussions regarding the show and possible themes, travel locations, viewer benefit topics ranging from health, money savings, travel destinations, local events, fashion, tech/gadgets, food recipes and preparation, pop culture, music, current events and other relatable life topics and points of interest to viewers.
Participate and contribute to other station/departmental events, programming, activities, productions and coverage as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Television Production or related field is desired.
2-3 years of show producing and TV production experience suggested.
Working knowledge and skills related to all social media platforms.
Outstanding levels of creative thinking, idea generation, communication skills and writing ability required.
Acute awareness of goings-on and happenings in and around Northeast Ohio as well as regional and national trends and subject matter that will
serve as excellent content for the show.
Ability to work under extreme pressure, live television situations and changing deadlines a must.
Must be self-motivating and work well both individually and within a team setting.
Must exercise controlled self-discretion, best judgment, positive/productive attitude and possess strong journalistic/ethical values when dealing with co-workers, program guests and viewers.
Must be extremely flexible and willing to work different schedules and additional hours as needed/required.
