Creative Director
The Creative Director is responsible for establishing the creative direction behind the visual branding and UI across our product portfolio. They will manage a team of 7-10 visual designers based in various offices around the world. The creative director is also responsible for the Voice and Tone in our products copy. They will work closely with Creative Directors in Marketing but this role is Unique in its focus on product. This role reports directly into the Vice President of User Experience.
Accountabilities:
1. Oversee the design of the most critical projects across the company
2. Sets the Creative Direction, rooted in brand tenants, for the designers and drives process execution.
3. Proposes new initiatives or product strategies.
4. Actively inspires Sr. Leaders throughout the company on the benefits of Design.
5. Deeply understands customer use cases and segments.
6. Leverages analytics and other insights to better understand customer needs.
7. Interacts frequently with customers with open dialogue.
8. Understands the customer's business and organization.
9. Balances organizational needs with customer needs (commercial) and creates a strategic plan for the organization.
10. Predicts trends within segments.
11. Deeply understands competitor product set and strategy and how it influences customer decisions.
12. Discerns how value is defined and perceived by each of those segments.
13. Interacts with other companies in their industry.
14. Involved in the community and engages with startups.
15. Defines and articulate a clear design strategy for a product or set of products within a specific market or geography
16. Influences strategic discussions and decisions around the future product or market.
17. Creates an environment in which designers can work together and with key stakeholders to identify and share innovative ideas.
18. Delivers innovations that are significant contributions to the company.
19. Encourages others to develop confidence in their new ideas and supports the development of these ideas through efficient experiments.
20. Demonstrates good judgement and confidence in taking calculated risks when deciding on what new product ideas to invest in. Uses data to support their judgement.
21. Demonstrates a track record of generating, getting approval for and implementing innovative ideas.
22. Influences direct reports and peers through UX leadership.
23. Develops a reputation of design leadership through collaboration with colleagues and peers.
24. Effective at developing contacts and formal and informal working groups across the organization to further new technical and product concepts.
25. Consider the views of others at less senior levels when making decisions that will affect them.
26. Define the holistic design road map for the global organization.
27. Create high-level concept designs showcasing end-to-end customer experience and create strategic design vision.
28. Influence and work with cross-functional teams to accomplish high level outputs
Qualifications:
1. Ability to implement advanced UCD processes.
2. Strong understanding of effective web design strategies.
3. Strong understanding of information architecture.
4. Adept at building relationships.
5. Knowledge of product strategy.
6. Resource allocation.
7. Proven aptitude for creating an overall web design strategy and tablets and mobile apps information architecture.
8. Advanced skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others.
9. Advanced organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and advanced delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
10. Excellent problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
11. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.
12. 10 years' experience, 5 years of Management experience.
13. Track record of managing a successful suite of products that meet growth commitments.
14. Track record of hiring and developing design talent.
15. Bachelors or Master's degree in a design subject (UX, HCI, Product Design, Design, Graphic Design, etc. discipline) is preferred, but not required.
