Position Overview
Canon, U. S. A., Inc. is currently hiring for our 2018 Canon Insights Intern Program. The Insights Program is a comprehensive program that runs for 10 weeks during the summer. This is a full-time (9 AM to 5 PM), 35 hours a week, paid internship. This program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects and exposure to various business units within Canon.
Responsibilities
• Work with Curriculum Developer and Subject Matter Experts to identify learners needs.
• Organize and develop, or obtain, training procedure manuals, guides and course materials such as handouts and visual materials for training purposes.
• Develop contents, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
• Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, and/or consultation with managers, instructors or customer representatives.
• Monitor, evaluate, record and report training activities and program effectiveness.
• Work with Curriculum Developer and Subject Matter Experts to develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
• Work with Curriculum Developer and Subject Matter Experts to assess and assign workers to different training programs based on qualifications.
Qualifications
We prefer students that are entering their Junior or Senior year as of the Summer 2018, however, all are welcome to apply. To succeed in the Insights Program, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power point, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We also require candidates to be enrolled in a related major in the department of interest and have some former work or internship experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and social skills.
• Basic to intermediate skills in e-learning authoring applications, such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate.
• Basic to intermediate skills in LMS (learning management system) or web development coding.
• Basic to intermediate skills in photo and video editing.
• Intermediate skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Ability to apply theory to practice, and experience directly with instructional design, content development or similar environment.
• Ability to manage projects, daily tasks, and work in teams.
