Description
The FOX NE&O Technology team consists of world-class engineers who are passionate about technology. We are searching for a Director who has the desire, drive, and vision to be a part of and lead such a world-class team. This role requires someone with the self-motivation to continuously develop and grow both personally as well as develop the team itself. Broadcast Television is a 24/7 operation, which requires attention to detail and methodical planning. How does the ability to automate play a role in infrastructure control? How do we utilize next-generation tools to introduce additional rigor into Broadcast infrastructure to prepare for cloud transitions?
This is a very hands-on leadership role, which will contribute to the continued success of Broadcast and Digital environments for FOX Sports 1 / FOX Sports 2, FX, FXX, FOX Broadcasting, FOX Deportes, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild. This includes MLB, NASCAR, US Open Golf, NFL on FOX / SuperBowl, American Idol, Sons of Anarchy, The Simpsons, Empire, Gotham, and more.
Responsibilities
• Strong Project Management experience, showing a clear history of managing long-term (multi-year) projects within budget.
• Well versed with product/vendor selection processes - RFP / RFI, conduct product analysis reports.
• Managed environments with 2,500+ Network Devices (Routers, Switches, and Firewalls) and/or over 5,000 hosts.
• Architecting and deploying infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or with other Cloud Providers.
◦ Hands-on experience in deploying and managing all aspects of IT infrastructure:
◦ Storage – NetApp, OpenStack
◦ Network – Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Load-Balancers
◦ Systems – Microsoft AD, Linux
◦ VMware – NSX, SRM,
◦ Security – Firewall, NAC, IDS/IPS, CDN Services, DDoS Prevention
◦ Operations – Automation, Patch / Configuration Management, Tooling – Splunk, etc.
◦ Operational Resiliency – Proven experience in designing resilient Applications, Datacenters, Networks, Storage and creating regularly tested Disaster Recovery plans
• In-depth knowledge of networking. Should have strong understanding of the OSI-model and how to break down the troubeshooting process into a layered approach.
• Solid understanding of security concepts including: Web Code Scanning, Vulnerability Scanning, Layer 1-7 Security, Best Practices, VPN, 2-Factor Authentication, SSL, Sigv4.
• Solid understanding of best practice architectures and use cases for various monitoring and logging tools: This includes tools such as Nagios, Solarwinds, ELK, Splunk, Graylog, RANCID, Icinga, as well as APM’s such as AppNeta, NewRelic, etc.
• Understanding of storage architectures including – Block, File, Object and in which scenarios these are used.
• Understanding of modern web development and data posting / acquisition methods such as configuration of REST API’s.
• In-depth knowledge of DNS architecture and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
• 6+ Years of managing a team of 10 or more.
• 6+ Years of hands on experience in managing large scale, mission-critical, media infrastructure.
• 2+ Years of experience in Senior Executive interaction and presentation (EVP+).
• Proven experience in leading high impact, high velocity teams, and demonstration of the ability to produce change agents within the enterprise.
• Experience managing an annual budget of $3MM+.
• Ability to operate a streamlined team effectively within a 24/7 mission critical environment.
• Capable of communicating and planning at a strategic level, while having tactical awareness.
• Strong ability to prioritize to make projects and proof-of-concepts and operational with limited resourcing.
Bonus Skills
• Experience in previous Television Broadcast, Post-Production, or Production Environments
• Task / WorkFlow Tracking: Jira / Kanban Boards
• Certifications: CCNA/P, RHCS/E, VCP, MSCE, CISSP, PMP

Fox Networks Engineering and Operations Group (NE&O) is the group that is singularly responsible for the receipt, uplink, delivery and distribution of all networks wholly or partially owned by FOX, Inc. NE&O is a 24/7 mission critical operation which supports business units in seven distinct locations - three (3) in Los Angeles, California (Pico, Playa del Rey and 1440 Sepulveda); one (1) in The Woodlands, TX; one (1) in San Francisco, CA; one in Charlotte, NC; and one (1) in New York, NY.
