The Senior Director of ‘Strategy & Planning’ will assume a key role in the overall growth and success of the division of Endeavor Global Marketing. Reporting to the SVP of Strategy & Planning, this position will be responsible for helping develop, implement and maintain long-term growth strategy associated with existing and potential division clients. Key work deliverables include enhancing the role that strategy plays in the lifestyle marketing efforts of our clients, working collaboratively with the other key business disciplines within Strategy and Activation to enhance our marketing service offerings and developing partnership expansion strategies, driving projects aimed at strengthening our capabilities.
The role of Senior Director within Endeavor Global Marketing will also have exposure to many facets of the company by playing a central role in new prospective client opportunities, business development, and assisting with core AOR client duties. This individual will partner closely with several teams throughout the company, including Creative, Global Research & Insights, and Account. They will also interact with many teams throughout the company based on the project at-hand, such as: talent, licensing, sports & entertainment, eGaming, IMG Live, IMG College, Digital and more. This individual will assist in culture mining/trend hunting, development of insights and marketing strategies, ideating breakthrough activation ideas that can be executed throughout culture, and managing the development of client recommendations and presentations.
Essential Functions:
• Work closely with SVP of Strategy & Planning to align Strategy with the pursuit of both new business and organic growth from existing clients.
• Work with client account leads to identify gaps in services provided to our clients across all forms of culture
• Lead the strategy, ideation and development of New business/RFP responses to ensure a high-quality, cohesive product—i.e. that creative and ideation is informed by analytics and strategic insights
• Ability to mine and unearth deep cultural, consumer and brand insights, and translate them into holistic marketing communications strategies and ideas. Endeavor Global Marketing is a company made up of entrepreneurs, creators and influencers of culture, so we’re looking for people who have their finger on the pulse of culture and share a spirit of curiosity.
• Work in a cross-functional role to lead the story-development and project management of a client recommendation, from spearheading research-based insights and integrated marketing strategies, to activation ideas and innovative solutions for brands. This will require cross-pollination within the company– operating across various divisions and disciplines to add depth to client recommendations.
• Understand and distill primary and secondary research for business intelligence needs and cultural analysis.
• Develop central strategies that are ingrained in relevant insights, have a connective thread to a larger organizing thought (“Big Idea”), and can lead to breakthrough ideas.
• Continually identify new trends and opportunities in culture, technology, music, sports and entertainment.
• Develop innovative, creative, and effective client strategies and go-to-market ideas.
• Interact with appropriate Endeavor Global Marketing divisions to support current initiatives and projects.
• Participate in brainstorms for strategies, partnerships, activation ideas, etc.
• Support the creation and implementation of materials to support individual project initiatives. This will include, but not be limited to the development of creative elements, preparation of marketing activation presentations, securing feedback and input from internal stakeholders, and distribution of materials to the client.
• Identify market, client and industry trends that impact the Endeavor Global Marketing, Strategy & Activation growth plans and recommends solutions.
• Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders across business units, corporate functions to support alignment of business unit and overall Endeavor Global Marketing strategies.
• Develop longer term plan for the growth of a strategy team as needed
Interactions:
Core member of a team of 7 people who support ‘Strategy and Planning’ with high-profile current and prospective clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree (concentration in marketing, business, communications or advertising is strongly preferred)
• 8-10+ years of ad agency or client-side marketing experience (preferred disciplines include: marketing consulting, communications strategy, digital, brand management, social, sponsorship marketing, media buying, sports & entertainment, account executive, creative agency, account)
• Top strategy consulting or top corporate marketing strategy experience, combined with superior project management.
• Experience with brand positioning, marketing strategies, marketing communications planning, integrated and experiential marketing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Expertise in creating, driving and executing solutions by defining all elements from strategy through market implementation.
• Deep understanding of new products, technologies and industry trends that impact brand marketers and sports/entertainment properties
• Good blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, planning and implementation. • Executive presence and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing creative solutions to complex marketing problems. • Good knowledge of marketing and the sponsorship/partnership landscape.
• An understanding of the media landscape, key publishers, emerging technologies, startups, social media, etc.
• Intellectual leadership, a problem-solving aptitude, and a broad understanding of global popular culture.
• Proven ability to prioritize workloads, manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive results.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with client management experience preferred.
• Proven ability to manage and lead teams toward common goals. • Successful business development experience.
• Sound understanding the entertainment landscape including the business of sports, fashion, food and film.
• Proven ability to work within a team environment a must
