The Executive Director of Technical Operations is a leadership position responsible for ensuring the velocity, reliability, security, and overall success of application deployment and systems across Fox Networks. These systems are both internal and consumer facing. As such, the role has a dramatic impact on the overall success of direct to consumer initiatives. This individual will support various internal businesses such as FBC, FX, National Geographic, NE&O, FOX Sports, and others. This is truly a 24/7 global operation, which is continually expanding over the coming years. Seeking someone who has an insatiable thirst for technology, with desire to learn and grow – individually, with the team, and the business. Someone who has a passion to lead, architect, design, document and implement comprehensive platform solutions using security best practices. This is an extremely challenging position, but would be the perfect fit for someone who wants to contribute and grow.
Responsibilities
• Manage a team of 17 high performance team members, including; Directors, Managers, Architects, and DevOps Engineers. Lead by example and foster an environment to help bring out the best ideas from the team.
• Establish, build, and maintain relationships with Sr. Technology and Product Executives of the supported businesses.
• Establish the service delivery culture for our business, building best-in-class service engineering capabilities in the team. FOX Content is viewed by millions, we must ensure maximum delivery uptime.
• As a shared services provider, this individual must be able to work across cross-functional teams as well as across various business units themselves, each with their own business initiatives. This requires a strong background in resource management, prioritization, and overall business acumen.
• This position will act as a mentor to Directors, Managers, Architects, and DevOps Engineering teams to ensure success. We achieve success through building bulletproof, scalable, secure systems across private and public cloud environments.
• This leadership role takes ownership of the overall health and performance of our platforms and services working side-by-side our development teams to improve the operability and security of our systems.
• Work across the engineering team to influence software development to meet the cloud needs and influence product and cloud engineering to improve the manageability and the supportability of the cloud products.
• Design and develop complete end to end automation environment using configuration/auto-scaling tools.
• Lead monitoring, performance optimization, troubleshooting of infrastructure services to support a high-performance computing environment and ensure 99.9%+ uptime.
• Host and lead technology roadmaps and planning discussions with business unit technology leaders.
• Design and develop complete end to end automation environment using configuration/auto-scaling tools.
• Work closely with Architects, Security Engineers, Product Managers and other clients and partners of the TechOps team to meet the needs of the organization to stay competitive - from the infrastructure up to the highest level of applications.
• Strategize with senior tech leaders and executives to develop innovative technology initiatives with primary focus on availability, supportability, scalability, security and performance.
• Innovate and architect solutions.
• Configure and tune an enterprise monitoring and instrumentation system(s) to efficiently detect existing issues and predict future issues based on trends.
• Perform hands-on technical work, to stay up-to-date with technology and assist the team. Recurrently advance your technical skill-sets to lead by example.
• Encourage your team to continuously improve via taking justifiable risks, not being afraid to fail.
• Hold vendors accountable and set the bar high, ensure they deliver above expectations.
• Be creative and inspire creativity to the teams.
• Build self-sufficient, independent, productive teams.
Qualifications
• 5+ years - managing a team of 10+ engineers and people managers.
• 5+ years - of hands on experience as an individual contributor in a systems administration/engineer/developer or DevOps role working on highly scalable distributed systems.
• Must have hands on development and/or scripting experience (Python)
• Experience supporting mission-critical platforms, both physical and virtualized environments, using CentOS, RedHat.
• Experience designing, building and managing large scale infrastructure in Rackspace, AWS, including experience leveraging one or more coding languages for automation.
• Proven experience leading positive change, empowering people, cultivating product technology visions and innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering practices and culture.
• Experience in driving process improvements, with a strong focus on leveraging technology for the establishment of fluid interactions and interfaces between teams.
• Ability to communicate and transfer knowledge clearly and effectively in both technical and non-technical manners.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with executives, employees, and partners across multiple verticals.

Division Description
The Fox Networks Engineering and Operations Group (NE&O) is the group that is singularly responsible for the receipt, uplink, delivery and distribution of all networks wholly or partially owned by FOX, Inc. NE&O is a 24/7 mission critical operation which supports business units in seven distinct locations - three (3) in Los Angeles, California (Pico, Playa del Rey and 1440 Sepulveda); one (1) in The Woodlands, TX; one (1) in San Francisco, CA; one in Charlotte, NC; and one (1) in New York, NY.
