Job Description
As a Corporate Accountant you will exercise good judgment, upholding rules and procedures while considering the needs of a multitude of stakeholders. Your analytical ability and comprehensive knowledge of the industry regulations and accounting concepts will ensure the continued success of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, today, tomorrow, and in the future.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts in a timely, effective manner using judgment to identify and resolve variances
• Prepares assigned general ledger journal entries
• Conducts accounting research and provide recommendations for applying GAAP principles to business transactions
• Analyzes assigned department profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy, make necessary corrections and provides results to operating departments
• Documents accounting procedures and identifies improvements
• Meets regularly with department management to review their profit and loss statement and consult on other financial matters
• Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings and acting as a resource for accounting policy and procedure
• Prepares and distributes other reports on an as needed basis, such as daily cash report
• Prepares data for internal and external auditors; works with the auditors to address audit inquiries on assigned accounts
• Prepares and/or assists in various tax calculations and related filings. Documents and provides company position on certain tax matters and discusses these with tax management
• Assists with tax audits, tax research and other ad hoc tax projects as they arise.
• Utilizes technical computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Blackline, Infinium General Ledger, and COGNOS reporting tools
• Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental records and reports
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• At least one year of accounting work experience in the gaming and/or hotel industry.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, contracts, financial reports and legal documents.
• Capable of writing effective letters and memos.
• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.
• Proficient in math including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the property in all locations. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.
Constant contact with executives, department management, applicants, employees and guests is necessary. Requires prolonged sitting or standing and mobility. Requires bending and reaching. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires use of standard office equipment. Requires basic math. Ability to push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing up to 5 lbs. Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
