The Sr. instructional designer’s main role is researching, designing, and developing content for online and face-to-face professional learning. This person is responsible for developing content that meets identified learning outcomes, Have knowledge and expertise in discipline and designing learning experiences that align with adult learning theory. In addition, this person must be able to work with a high level of independence as well as the ability to work collaboratively within and across teams to build content knowledge, as well as facilitate review and incorporate feedback.
Primary Responibilities:
Project Management
Manage multiple project deliverables simultaneously and successfully bring multiple deliverables in on time and within budget
Improve and enhance processes to track projects against budget and schedule
Communicate project(s) status regularly with project stakeholders
Instructional Design –
Develop agenda, outcomes, and learning experiences for online and face-to-face professional learning sessions; incorporate feedback from Instructional Design colleagues; lead/initiate frequent cycles of peer review
Develop professional learning components, e.g. Consultant Guide, Participant Learning Guide, PPT slides, Digital Content and additional resources to support professional learning sessions
Ensure that professional learning components in all modalities are grounded in principles of adult learning, ie highly engaging, relevant, and hands-on
Synthesize and utilize review feedback to ensure appropriate delivery methods and activity types are utilized to improve learning outcomes, meet customer needs, and align with overall blended strategy
Work independently, with minimal guidance on day-to-day work and with general instruction on new assignments, Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
Quality Assurance –
Follow policies, procedures and quality control protocols to ensure a consistently high standard in all deliverables (e.g., editorial accuracy and accessible design).
Organize the delivery of materials to reviewers and synthesize feedback, creating an action plan to revise the content
Research professional learning area of focus to identify resources, and ensure content is up-to-date and research-based
Collaboration –
Leverage internal HMH expertise to ensure that professional learning content is accurate, relevant, and aligns with company messaging
Collaborate with appropriate internal stakeholders and subject-matter experts to meet Services goals
Provide guidance and feedback to more junior members of Instructional Design team as appropriate

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher
4+ years’ prior experience in writing, editing, and project management in K-12 education
5 years’ teaching experience
3 years’ experience leading or designing professional learning sessions for teachers
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and delivering projects in a timely manner
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on clear and concise writing style.
Ability to multi-task, flexibly prioritize projects, and respond to feedback
Experience leading or designing professional learning highly desired
Knowledge of adult learning theory
Capable of learning new processes and technologies quickly
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Preferred:
Experience creating blended professional learning highly desired
Proficient with the G Suite
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
