Director, Content Operations - Home Entertainment

As a part of SPHE’s Commercial team, the Global Digital Platforms and Services team enables key incremental revenue channels through the development of services, apps and platforms. For many deals, content licensing is paired with custom content delivery to a wide variety of applications, devices, services and content types, worldwide. Reporting to the SVP, the Director, Content Operations is responsible for building, managing and expanding a globally addressable, direct to consumer content pool and ensuring that content is configured on all relevant consumer-facing areas. Including metadata, artwork, trailers and premium video (including 4k HDR), the content pool proactively supports a wide array of creative business endeavors across the world. The Director, Content Operations also oversee the
Customer Care aspects of SPHE’s various services partnering with vendors.
The Director is responsible for the intake, processing, encoding, and configuration of all content into these ecosystems. Working closing with key stakeholders inside the group, the Director, Content Ops primary responsibility is to deliver the widest array of appropriate content most efficiently.
Responsibilities
• Understand and constantly refine all workflows into the Content Pool and out to apps and services
• Partner with key stakeholders to constantly improve technology, service, efficiency
• Manage a yearly budget for content acquisition, encoding, prepping and delivery through CDN
• Creatively and with urgency handle fast-paced, late-breaking business requirements
• Partner with key IT and process stakeholders to continually enhance systems and processes
• As part of the core team, embrace development and adoption of emerging Digital Standards and Best Practices (ex, EIDR, EMA Avails, IMF, Common Media Manifest)
• Understand and act as an advocate both internally and externally on basics, status and future of core business data automation and Roadmap
• Prioritize long-term strategic responsibilities along with ad hoc projects or production priorities
Requirements
• 5-7 years of studio, media supply chain and/or digital distribution experience, preferably running content operations for a video distributer
• Skilled communicator able to effectively work with different information styles - commercial, technical, creative, and operational.
• Extreme comfort with large, complex data sets and high-level Excel skills
• Able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changes in priority and/or direction easily
• Flexible and adaptable with an appetite for implementing positive change
• Strong relationship builder
• Self-starter who proactively identifies and structures opportunities and projects
• Deep knowledge of key territories, customers, business stakeholders and core processes
• Knowledge of current Digital Standards (EMA, Common Manifest, EIDR)
• Proven track record in business process execution/ individual contributor
• Keen problem-solving abilities
• Video content processing, encoding hands-on encoding experience
• Running a digital asset management system
• Digital standards (EMA Avails, MMC, Common Metadata)
