Seeking someone who has an undeniable understanding and interest in urban, multicultural and lifestyle marketing; to connect the dots with brand opportunities, and the ability to work with a diverse group of artists, brands and environments effectively. The Associate Director will secure, manage and execute brand partnership campaigns focused on, but not limited to the label’s urban roster. They will also be responsible for communicating the client needs, determining objectives and success metrics and collaborating with internal divisions to ensure plans are presented and delivered on time and on budget. The position requires experience and skill in, among other things, project/account management, P&L creation, talent relations, program execution, as well as a strong understanding of the music industry.
Responsibilities
• Work internally with branding, marketing and artist management teams to identify unique partnership strategies focused, but not limited to, the urban roster of artists
• Secure, manage and execute brand partnership campaigns focused, but not limited to urban roster
• Act as primary point of contact for urban and multi-cultural brand partnerships:
◦ Maintain strong and effective relationships with appropriate brands across categories (apparel, footwear, liquor, beauty, auto, technology, etc.)
◦ Attend industry networking events, concerts, et al, with the purpose of expanding brand network and securing partnerships
• Handle account management for brand deals from concept to execution
• Oversee music video product placement opportunities focused, but not limited to the urban and multicultural roster. This includes outreach, negotiation of fees, contract execution, and seeing through deliverables
• Raise funding for label owned properties and events
• Responsible for securing brand partners to offset costs for album listening/ release events in order to increase awareness for upcoming album releases
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across Artist Management, Marketing, Sales, Digital, TV & Film Licensing to support priority projects, artists, and brands
• Identify and keep track of target brands for each RCA artist, with primary focus on urban and multicultural artists
• Manage integrated programs featuring key artists that support and build both artist and brand awareness
• Proactively communicate with agency, media and production partners to enhance account relationship
• Lead the development of creative concepts and oversee the delivery of ideas and new business presentations and marketing documents
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with current and future partners
• Maximize the use of consumer research to enhance artist opportunities
• Support Licensing department when music for brand campaigns is requested
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of post-college experience in areas directly relevant to the responsibilities described above. Undergraduate degree in business or marketing from a top school is preferred
• Thorough understanding of the music/entertainment industry; strong command of digital technologies is mandatory
• Broad base of business contacts in a variety of consumer product, retail and/or service categories also desirable
• Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Experience in contract negotiation, market entry strategy, business case development, or general business planning
• Strong passion for urban music, marketing, and the music industry
• Aptitude for creatively solving unstructured business problems
• Possesses rigorous analytical and quantitative skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a multi-faceted and complex corporate structure
