Senior Director, Technology Services – NonVideo Platforms
Job Summary
Responsible for directing a department containing multiple technical functions within the Technology Services organization. Functional areas could span Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Engineering disciplines; Technology Services teams are expected to coordinate across all Technology teams.Organizes and directs the teams within the department to cover specific functional areas, staffs and manages the teams, and measures the success of each function within the department.Functions could include testing, software development, release management, program management, post launch support, and business analysis. Develops overall strategy for the department. Leverages industry best practices and standards and continuously leads process improvements for assigned areas.Evaluates and implements new technologies and tools as needed to ensure operational excellence and efficiency. Continually evaluates opportunities for improvement. Works cross-functionally across organizational boundaries to improve delivery processes.Prepares documentation and presents to senior executive management.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
• Oversees multiple technical areas including those related to Engineering and Information Technology
• Assists in the definition of the overall Technology Services strategic plan
• Develops strategic plan for assigned functional areas within department
• Directs and deploys technical staff to ensure appropriate internal customer support and execution excellence
• Develops scorecard and metrics to measure performance of assigned functions
• Accountable for the departmental budget and related capital expenditures
• Assists with the creation and successful management of multi-million dollar budgets
• Assists with negotiating multi-million dollar contracts with third party vendors
• Implements and enhances consistent best practices to ensure optimized delivery aligned with company initiatives and expectations
• Develops strong partnerships with project sponsor organizations and other cross-functional teams to optimize delivery
• Works with other business leaders to identify process improvement opportunities
• Develops an effective front line leadership team and assists them with developing their direct reports as to drive a high performance culture and environment
• Consults with all levels of leadership to communicate departmental strategy, direction and changes
REQUIRED Qualifications
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Advanced ability to create and implement department strategies
Advanced ability to successfully build and lead multiple teams of engineering and information technology resources
Engineering and information technology knowledge of multiple areas, as well as the knowledge of a wide variety of tools and technologies used in assigned areas
Advanced understanding of the core business processes and existing system capabilities
Advanced ability to communicate with senior levels of management and company personnel
In-depth knowledge of consulting skills and the ability to leverage staffing firms
In-depth knowledge of business process re-engineering
Advanced knowledge of video, internet, phone residential and business product features and network capabilities
Advanced ability in successfully managing complex IT and engineering programs
Advanced understanding and ability to successfully manage complex program and project budgets
Advanced ability to lead and motivate large teams and provide constructive feedback
Advanced ability in mitigating risk and implementing contingency plans
Advanced ability to exercise independent judgment and a high degree of initiative in performance of job duties
Strong understanding of technology trends
Skillfully synthesizes large quantities of complex information under pressure. Distills it to the most critical issues and draws accurate conclusions.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Advanced management or technical degree desired but not required
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Technology experience preferred including: 10+
