Description
As Forbes celebrates its centennial year, we have been undergoing a transformation at all levels. We have reorganized into a product-driven company and refactored our technology to be the highest performing in our industry. We are currently seeking a Creative Director to lead the next transformation - the look and feel of Forbes.com and the new brands we are launching.
Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who has a strong vision and clean aesthetic, balanced with an openness for collaboration. This person excels leading a team of creatives in turning big vision into practical solutions for our product portfolios. S/he has a deep understanding of human behavior and maintains a focus on solving real-world user problems. Consistency gives this person comfort, while challenges give them energy. Most importantly, our Creative Director actively fosters and develops a culture of collaboration and fun.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead and inspire the creative team to think big and continually raise the creative bar.
• Collaborate with product owners, content and sales leads to create bold ideas that can become scalable executions.
• Help to maintain the highest design standards and brand consistency across all products.
• Help to foster a culture of creative thinking and innovation across the organization.
• Build relationships and align efforts with internal stakeholders, including sales, editorial, and technology.
• Maintain a high-level view across the business. Understand the complexities, dependencies, and opportunities beyond the Product team.
• Inspire, guide, motivate, and mentor team members to ensure peak performance and professional growth.
• Actively recruit for future roles to support our growth.
• Represent Forbes at industry events, panels, and groups, reinforcing our creative philosophy, strategy, and objectives.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and market developments and identify potential opportunities for product growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in a creative leadership role (preferably with 3+ digital publishing environment).
• Passion for creativity, from conceptual thinking to final output.
• A robust portfolio demonstrating bold, elegant design thinking that can extend into any medium.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong understanding of digital, video and social platforms.
• Expert at designing and prototyping with a variety of tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Principle, Flinto, Keynote, After Effects.
• Working experience with desktop/mobile analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture, Mixpanel, etc.
• Able to communicate effectively with highly technical teams and luddites alike.
• Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting aggressive deadlines.
• Able to work through escalations and difficult situations independently.
• An enthusiastic self-starter who is a design-obsessed and detail-oriented.
• Great team player with respect for others, yet able to work independently.
• Passion for new technologies and new media.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
