Job Description
Ubisoft Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking a full-time Lead Programmer. We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person for a new multiplatform AAA project based in our San Francisco studio.
You will be developing game and system-level features, organizing engineering efforts on a day-to-day basis, and coordinating with the production staff to ensure that feature and production goals were being met. You will work on a small collaboration-oriented team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement game features and systems
• Collaborate with the design team and technical lead on game features
• Manage engineers and help them meet their development goals
• Monitor work from the engineers regularly and ensure that quality and scheduling goals are met
• Manage and mentor less experienced programmers, including task assignments and follow up
• Facilitate communication between engineering and production teams
• Create and maintain technical design documents and self-manage programming task schedules
Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in programming/engineering development
• Published titles credited as Lead Programmer or equivalent
• Strong task and schedule management skills
• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent
• Extensive experience in developing and implementing key gameplay systems
• Developed and shipped several games on consoles (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox360)
• Understanding of the challenges associated with cross-platform development
• Outstanding C/C++ development and optimization skills
• Excellent understanding of software design techniques
• Strong knowledge of performance/memory constraints of game software
• Work well with designers and artists to implement the vision of the game
• Able to create, document, and maintain TDDs and programming schedules
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Strong knowledge of scripting languages (C#, Lua, Python, Perl)
• Experience on the new generation of consoles (PS4, Xbox One)
