JOB TITLE: GSC Communications Associate
BUSINESS UNIT: Global Supply Chain
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Global Supply Chain Communications Associate (CA) is responsible for supporting the content and execution of communications related to: HMH digital content and digital platforms; HMH’s physical products; and internal Customer Experience initiatives and projects. The CA will also provide project management and business analysis support for internal Customer Experience projects related to process and training initiatives. The CA will interface between groups, including business, technology, and support teams, to support the communication creation process then support the feedback loop. In addition to the communications responsibilities, the CA may participate in project teams related to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s digital platforms, digital content, and Customer Experience initiatives.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Strategy: 20%
• Lead the continuous improvement of the GSC communications strategy to ensure engagement of internal GSC employees as well as effectiveness of communications mediums
• Contribute to and support all aspects of the communications strategy implementation
• Provide status updates on action items and deliverables
• Inform ongoing development of communications strategy for future deliverables and processes
2. Executing: 70%
• Create and distribute internal newsletters and other Customer Experience and/or Global Supply Chain communications and evolve the communication mediums Customer Experiences uses for best outcomes determined through research
• Develop and manage templates and messaging tool solutions with the goal to ensure consistent framing of messages
• Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of all communications
• Manage the platform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance communications process, working cross-functionally with stakeholders from other HMH departments. Includes maintaining on-call weekday evening availability to support emergency communications after standard working hours
• Collaborate with Customer Experience leadership and social media community managers to manage all Customer Experience-related social media inquiries
• Work with identified stakeholders to facilitate, create, and maintain documentation required to support customer-facing communications
• Contribute to project-related documentation
3. Other duties as assigned: 10%
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines and utilize project management competencies to ensure communications are delivered on time
• Ability to influence others through use of clear, concise, and effective communications, both written and oral
• Strong competencies in project management, business analysis, and process improvement
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
• Organizational, time management skills, and ability to troubleshoot issues and follow up on a continual basis
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
• BS/BA Degree or equivalent
• Excellent Computer skills especially Excel, Word, Visio, and Powerpoint
Preferred:
• Knowledge of HTML, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Dreamweaver
• 3-5 years in the publishing, marketing, or communications industry is preferred
• 3-5 years’ experience in a project-based role or business process role
• K-12 Educational Publishing Experience preferred
