Description
Forbes will select a handful of promising young journalists and digital strategists to participate in the Forbes Editorial Internship Program for the Summer of 2018. Each year, Forbes holds an early recruiting process with the goal of receiving an early commitment from our summer interns by the end of February.
Our editorial interns have written dozens of posts for Forbes.com and contributed to some of our biggest web/print packages, including the Top Colleges and Forbes 400 issues. Some wrote pieces for Forbes magazine; a few continue to write as contributors after heading back to college; others have been hired as full time staffers.
Duties will include reporting, fact-checking and writing stories, as well as assisting staffers with special projects. There will also be opportunities to work on the product development side of the Forbes.com publishing platform to enhance the reader experience with Forbes’ content. Accepted applicants will be assigned to a team—College Rankings, Leadership, Investing, etc.—and will work closely with their corresponding manager.
Location:
Jersey City, NJ
Duration: 10-12 weeks (Late May to Mid August 2018)
Compensation: $15/hour

Eligibility: Current undergraduate/graduate students – rising juniors and seniors preferred
Qualifications:
• Journalism major OR internship at a journalistic or collegiate publication
• Prior experience in fact-checking, reporting, writing and editing
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Familiar current digital and social media technologies and SEO best practices
• Experience with WordPress or similar publishing platforms
• Internet in business and entrepreneurship and basic understanding of financial terms and figures
• Ability to use multiple resources and analyze documents during research
• Solid news judgment with understanding of journalistic standards and editorial ethics

LOCATION
The Forbes office is located in Jersey City, NJ. This location is 1 stop into NJ via the PATH subway from downtown Manhattan neighborhoods like Greenwich Village, Union Square, Chelsea, Tribeca, the Financial District, and NYU’s and The New School’s dorms, which are often available to rent for the summer.
TEAMS/CHANNELS:
The Forbes Asia group follows the business personalities and companies of the Asia-Pacific region. Their team is seeking an intern with a fluency in Asian language (Chinese, Korean and Southeast Asian languages desired) to fact-check stories, research and write for Forbes Asia Magazine and Forbes.com. This intern will translate information on Chinese company websites and ForbesChina Magazine and organize files for candidates lists on Asia’s richest people.
The Business desk seeks an intern interested in hard business news to assist with all editorial tasks. The Business Intern will write posts on Forbes.com on energy, auto, retail, logistics and agriculture industries and create slideshow galleries and edit headlines for those posts. This individual will assist with research for the Reinventing America franchise, organize contributor contracts and fact-check magazine stories.
The College Rankings team requires a group of self-motivated, well-organized intern-reporters to work on our annual ranking of America’s Top Colleges. The College Rankings team will report and write college profiles by contacting various universities and write original blog posts on Forbes.com on College/Education related topics. This group will manage the Top College social media campaign and other social engagement initiatives. Additionally, they will conduct photo research, create photo galleries and info-graphics and fact check magazine stories.
The Entrepreneurs team seeks an intern that is innately curious and is interested in startups of all kinds. The “Terps” Intern will write blog posts on Forbes.com about entrepreneurs, start-ups and industry trends and conduct research for projects and lists. This individual will work closely with the channel producer with creation of photo galleries and fact-check magazine stories for staff writers.
The Leadership channel of Forbes.com seeks an ambitious and resourceful intern to carve out a beat covering people and events in the broad field of leadership. This intern will research and write online articles on business news, leadership news and career advice and propose and write short articles for the leadership section of Forbes Magazine. This person will also fact-check magazine stories and assist with research and editing for the CMO Network.
The Lifestyle team focuses on what’s trending in the world of luxury from food, drink, travel, style and dream cars and homes. The ForbesLife group requires an intern adept at reporting and fluent in social media to write blog posts while upholding the aesthetic consistent with ForbesLife. This intern will program the ForbesLife social media accounts, communicate with contributors and assist with fact-checking and other projects as needed.
The Media & Entertainment section is searching for an intern to work on our media editorial packages including Hip-Hop Cash Kings, Country Cash Kings and EDM Cash Kings. This intern will create slideshow galleries, post on Forbes.com, edit headlines and fact check magazine stories. This individual will manage current Forbes.com contributors and help recruit new ones and assist with the Forbes Celeb 100 issue. Availability to start in mid-May or earlier is preferred.
Money & Investing is looking for an intern with an understanding of markets, investing and financial terms to write knowledgeably about financial news for Forbes’ Markets desk. This intern will post on Forbes.com on investing and personal finance topics and conduct research through financial statements and statistics. This intern will also fact-check magazine stories and assists editors and staff writers with special projects. Economics and finance majors are preferred but not required.
The Technology channel seeks an intern with knowledge of the tech-space to report on the rapidly-expanding tech industry. The Tech Intern will have knowledge of key players and terminology in the industry and write and report about leading companies and innovators. This intern will research emerging technology trends and leaders and attend industry events, assist editors with special projects and fact-check magazine stories.
The Wealth team seeks an inquisitive, investigative reporter to help research the flagship Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest people in the U.S. This person will gather information on wealthy individuals via phone and email interviews to create blogs, web features and short magazine stories. This intern will search through SEC documents and annual reports to value individual fortunes and companies and write 100-word bios on each billionaire covered. Language skills preferred but not required for international research. Availability to work through mid-September is a plus.
