I. Job Summary
| Major goals and objectives.
To layout and design all assigned pages for the magazine, Better Homes & Gardens. Handle and understand all job phases from interpretation of assignment, to concept, preparation and production, in accordance with internal as well as pre-press schedules. Provides open creative atmosphere for team work on all editorial projects and stories. Monitoring schedules with Senior Associate Art Director and Deputy Art Directors, assures meeting internal and press deadlines and timetables.

• Executes design and production of magazine in accordance with editorial and art direction, schedules, budget and corporate policies.
• Supervise production of all assigned material to include pre-press and press production.
• Assist other designers in maintaining schedules of material to the plant in a timely manner and monitor and follow-up established schedules.

• Works with Art Directors in developing and improving editorial design and direction.
• Work within budget established.
• Develop knowledge and skills related to franchise editorial areas covered in the magazine
• Develop magazine publishing awareness, production design, competition and current economic trends affecting publishing in mixture of platforms – print, online and digital.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design or related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Min 3 years design experience with preference for a mix of platforms - print, online and digital.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in InDesign with knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Word and Excel
• Ability to adhere to art team guidelines and departmental processes
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Magazine industry awareness
• Attention to detail
