Supervising Producer:
Responsible for line production of Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.
Responsibilities:
• Primarily responsible for the look of the show, the collection and clearance of all broadcast elements, the creation of graphics and communication with editors on all show elements
• Coordinate logistics of all studio and remote shoots in conjunction with Production Manager and Executive Producer
• Responsible for communicating schedules and technical needs to all those working on the production
• Provide guidance and communication to all staff on site and at Newseum or contracted facilities
• Exercise strong writing skills with ability to regularly write copy for segments, as well as promos, teases, opens, closes and transition elements for the weekly show and assets for local stations, i.e. news content
• Participate in all editorial meetings about show elements; Contribute ideas and provides for the efficient production of the show
• Control room supervisor
• Copy edit all scripts
• Coach and mentor associate producers, bookers and researchers
• Participate in planning processes with Executive Producer
• Discuss day-to-day progress on segments with all staff
• Work closely with the Executive Producer on show development and delegation of tasks
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have at least 7 years of experience in live television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, etc.)
• Must have at least 3 years of Line Producing experience
• Must have recent control room leadership experience
Desired Characteristics:
• Possess ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative, compelling television
• Knowledge of current events, politics and pop culture
• Up to date on periodicals, including Op-Eds
• Strong time management skills
