Job Title
Senior Manager BI - Advertiser Insights
This position contributes to Meredith’s success using digital-based data and information (i.e. web analytics, campaign reporting, industry search, app data, social data, etc.) to drive a deeper understanding of the Meredith brands and audience to support the business overall, specifically partnering with advertisers to develop custom insights that improve targeting and contextual marketing success. This person will act as a passionate advocate for Meredith’s audiences to internal sales teams, external media agencies, and CPG companies. You will develop and manage business partner relationships in these areas interacting within a collaborative, fast-paced team environment. Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of consumer research methods, be experienced in mining digital data, and be able to translate information into tangible business recommendations to answer business questions. Achieving these recommendations may be accomplished by running analytics to test hypotheses, by identifying key drivers of changes in brand and business performance via sales performance data, mining web analytics, or by synthesizing analysis into meaningful and impactful stories. Because a big part of synthesizing data is communicating the story to senior leaders across the Meredith organization, a successful candidate will also have exceptional influencing and communications skills.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following.
Plan
• Supports identification of appropriate sources of information and supports the development of an annual insights roadmap by determining the core advertiser/client learning needs for the business team
• Works with the Advertiser Insights director to arrive at the optimal research approach for each sales project or business need
• Assesses each research initiative with a critical eye to ensure that it provides incremental learning, actionable insights and a positive and meaningful ROI. Knows both when to recommend research, when to repurpose existing materials, and when to recommend against research
• Partners closely with the digital ad sales, digital marketing, and content teams to assess needs, helping articulate key knowledge gaps
• Writes and gains alignment on the research projects
• Supports in developing an ongoing digital insight plan, spanning internal and external data
Execute
• Manages the day-to-day digital analysis plan
• Responds quickly and effectively to sales RFPs and advertiser-related inquiries
• Provides ongoing support to digital ad sales, digital marketing, and content teams, ensuring the insights/trends perspective is embedded in decision making
• Manages a small team of analysts, ensuring opportunities for growth, exposure to new methodologies and industry-standard best practices
Analyze
• Helps create new digital analyses with internal and external data
• Ensures quality and accuracy
• Analyzes data and extracts meaningful and actionable insights with the support of the Advertiser Insights director
• Creates clear, concise and meaningful reports with the support of the Advertiser Insights director
Champion
• Engages in compelling business story-telling in written, verbal, and data visualization modes
• With the support of the Advertiser Insights director, provides meaningful and actionable recommendations to the sales and marketing teams based on digital-based consumer insights
Partner
• Provides a day-to-day voice of the insights team in the sales and marketing dialogue
• Supports the sales and marketing team in identifying opportunities (and risks) from the insights perspective (with and without new research)
• Plays active role on cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:
• MBA or Masters in applicable Social Science disciplines may be substituted for practical experience
Summary of Experience
• Enthusiasm for food and lifestyle topics such as cooking, decorating, building and remodeling, crafts, entertaining, cooking, and gardening. Passion for making life easier and more enjoyable
• Well-versed in the digital space (at least 5 years’ experience client-side or agency-side)
• Experience translating business needs into research strategies and translating research findings back into actionable recommendations
• Deep knowledge of digital data sets and tool-kits
• Digital market research project management, including data analysis, interpretation, research design and implementation and report writing
• Must have the ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
• Advanced skills in data analysis, including statistical and competitive evaluation and synthesis
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to partner effectively with sales and marketing leadership
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Ability to translate key learning and insights into actionable business and marketing strategies
• Ability to present complicated analytical material in a concise and compelling manner
Highly qualified candidates will have experience with at least three of the following:
• Web Analytics: Google Analytics and Adobe Omniture
• Microsoft SQL Server
• AWS S3/Redshift
• SPSS, STATA, MATLAB
• Tableau Desktop or Tableau Server
• Content Management System like Drupal, Joomla!, or WordPress
• Basic coding skills with such languages as HTML, R, or Python
