General Summary:
We are looking for an experienced executive communications professional to join our team. The right person will bring strategic thinking, communications expertise, energy and creativity to help our senior vice president of Autodesk’s business strategy & marketing group (BSM) find and tell stories authentically to employees and to help build her and the company’s profile externally. This position supports a new SVP, and is a great opportunity to build a program from the ground up.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Think strategically to develop and execute an annual executive and internal communications plan for our SVP of business strategy & marketing, in collaboration with other teams including public relations, social media and employee communications.
• Participate in BSM direct staff meetings alongside the SVP, helping shape strategy, providing a point of view on what and how should be communicated, and debating that POV with BSM direct staff.
• Working directly with our SVP of BSM to create presentations and talks to be given inside the company and externally, to customers, media, and influencers. Develop ways to reuse this content by other leaders in the company.
• Developing the strategy for and preparing and/or drafting select executive communications across a variety of internal channels with high quality and attention to detail.
• Creating a social media strategy for the SVP and supporting her by creating some social media posts, suggesting shares, and suggesting ways to engage on Twitter, LinkedIn and other platforms. She will manage her own social channels.
• Developing and delivering compelling BSM-wide meetings with a focus on developing original content and creating innovative ways to deliver information and news to our employees.
• Working across the executive communications team, across the BSM group, and with partners across the company on communications projects as needed in the best interests of the company and its employees.
• Pitching in where appropriate to help teammates out on high-priority executive communications or internal communications projects, regardless of executive being supported.
Requirements:
• Understanding of Autodesk’s business and industries; experience in product design and manufacturing or construction a plus;
• Excellent writer, with the skills to distill complex content into clear, concise and engaging communications, and able to write with speed and accuracy;
• Strategic thinker comfortable debating and defending her/his ideas;
• Strong storyteller with the ability to create compelling narratives in support of our business strategies;
• Experience developing and executing communications strategies, plans, programs and events;
• Strong presence and confidence to build high credibility with senior executives;
• Ability to influence without authority, across functions, geographies and levels, and the ability to work with various departments and teams to drive alignment and collaboration;
• Ability to be flexible, pro-active, work under deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy;
• Focused and performance driven;
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills;
• 8+ years of experience in employee communications and/or public relations, executive communication experience preferred;
• Four-year college degree (BS or BA), preferably in English, communications or journalism; MBA a plus;
• Occasional travel required.
