Position
The Web Development Intern is responsible for requirements gathering, design & implementation of a brand new Web application hosted on a AWS Infrastructure to provide performance visibility of the TEP ERP Global support organization to various Intranet users within Pearson. The ERP Operations team has a vision to develop a single portal for Global visibility into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that describes the health of operations support, risks, upcoming major events like key Project Releases, Disaster recovery trials, Environment Management strategy, Release Management strategy etc.
You will have an opportunity to use industry best practices in developing & hosting the portal on a AWS platform on a Multi-Tier Integrated LAMP Technology Landscape (Linux Apache and MySQL and Php).
The Job further extends into integrating this Web application into the Pearson MyCloud landscape using a SMS gateway.
As part of the software development internship, you will partner with a technology mentor that will help you continue to grow, learn and contribute.
This internship also has a Professional Development focus where you'll have an opportunity to participate in Business Service reviews with supplier teams, and hence learn more about our broader Operations support organization, in addition to engaging in all-intern social events.
The Web Development Intern will:
Define short agile requirements, to develop a new web application hosted on Amazon Cloud
Pilot the Web app for TEP Operations, meeting the minimum requirements from user experience, performance, functionality and data perspective.
Use Rapid Application development methodology for requirements till implementation.
Integrate this new Web application to Pearson Cloud using SMS gateway.
Qualifications
Required Education & Services:
• Need to Independently design, develop, modify and publish websites, with solid Industry best practice knowledge, leading towards a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
• Familiarity on AWS hosting using Linux Apache and MySQL and Php.
• Experience doing programming in HTML, CSS & Angular JS
• Experience in Database - NOSQL (or) RDBMS
• Minimum GPA of 3.2
Desired Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Desire to learn and expand knowledge in development languages, applications, and tools
• Intellectual horsepower and proven ability to quickly learn new processes and tools, business domains and technical applications
• Strong Written and Verbal skills to communicate with clarity and brevity to other professionals, including Environment manager, Non Technology users etc
What Does the Internship Program Offer?
Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working with our product and technology teams.

You’ll be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday June 4 and ends Friday August 17.
