USA TODAY NETWORK is one of the top 20 digital companies in the country, sharing the list with Google, Facebook, and Amazon. And we have over 100 million unique visitors a month, which is more than Buzzfeed, Yahoo News, and Huffington Post. Because our team consists of over 110 local properties with USA TODAY at the helm, you’ll have the luxury of living in a community you love while making a national impact.
Go all in on visual digital story telling as the next member of thenewsstar.com news team. We’re recruiting to fill a position that in the past we might have described as a photographer – a description that falls far short in today's digital media environment.
You must be a newshound, videographer and photographer. You must be as comfortable creating video as you are making stills. You must know how to tell stories visually in both video and still photography. You must be able to work independently from the field and collaborate as part of a team. You must work with a digital metabolism. You must appreciate the whole range of community news, from breaking news to sports to profiles – always with a focus on people. You must be comfortable contributing to, even occasionally writing, a news story. You must understand that creating multimedia content is only half the job, and that the other half is being entrepreneurial in assertively putting your content in front of consumers via social channels. You must have experience in social media and have a strong social voice. You must permit consumer feedback, including metrics, to guide decisions. And you must be flexible.
Yes, we expect a lot. The changing media environment requires no less. But we’re willing to experiment, to try new approaches, to risk in pursuit of gratifying news and information consumers.
The News-Star and thenewstar.com are a Gannett media company and are part of the USA Today Network.
