Job Description
The Temporary Graphic Production Artist position is a non-managing position that reports to the Manager, Production Art in Creative Services. This person is an expert in computer production methods and techniques. He/she ensures that end products meet defined technical and quality standards for artwork preparation. He/she understands printing and manufacturing requirements, and must become familiar with requirements from first party contacts such as Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. The person’s primary job is to create and ensure the delivery of correctly prepared, complete, accurate artwork to printers, manufacturers and digital publishing outlets.
Scope:
The Graphic Production Artist takes direction from his supervisor, the design staff of Creative Services, and may take direction from brand managers. In addition to producing artwork, as the technical expert, he/she provides technical guidance to other artists and designers throughout the design process. He/she stays abreast of state-of-the-art tools, software and technology for art production, and recommends new and modified art software as appropriate.:
• Work with in-house and outside designers and Creative Services staff, to produce reproduction artwork for design, advertising, digital publishing and other projects
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of files that are sent to print and manufacturing
• Communicate as necessary with printing and manufacturing vendors to eliminate and prevent errors and problems.
• Check artwork for completeness and assure adherence to standards
• Maintain standard templates and guidelines
• Monitor art preparation guidelines. Recommend technical and procedural updates and changes as needed
• Assist in the collection and distribution of assets for preparation of production artwork as necessary
• Assist in organizing, monitoring, archiving and maintenance of files on the Creative Services server
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years computer production art
• Understanding of the creative process and production techniques
• Expert on Macintosh hardware, and in the following software: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Fireworks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Energetic and positive attitude
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
