Job Description
The Thought Leadership Marketing Manager for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) will be responsible for developing and delivering a compelling story to decision makers and influencers across the AEC ecosystem. In this role, you will engage with thought leaders, technology visionaries and industry strategists internally and externally to illustrate and amplify Autodesk’s vision – The Future of Making Things – with provocative, distinctive, and credible content, supported by demonstrable product technology, research, and customer case studies.
Your goal will be to build Autodesk’s reputation as a technology innovator, trusted advisor, and global thought leader. You will lead the development of effective messaging and content that helps communicate Autodesk’s thought leadership perspective across the industries we serve. You will build and execute on a strategy for distributing that content through marketing programs and other channels. And you will build messaging frameworks and use influence to ensure that our point of view is reinforced across customer touch points at the right time and through the right channel.
The ideal candidate will be a smart, resourceful and resilient leader who thrives in a fast paced environment where initiative and innovation are required. You must be a creative story teller and have exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with and influence a range of stakeholders across the organization.
This is a leadership position and you will have a team reporting to you. The role reports to the Director of AEC Global Field Marketing and will support objectives spanning the Building Design, Infrastructure, and Construction business lines.
Responsibilities:
• Cultivate a thorough understanding of AEC industry trends and customers, our strategic vision, and our product portfolio and roadmap.
• Develop provocative thought leadership messaging and content to support and demonstrate our Future of Making Things vision and the evolution of our Building Information Modeling (BIM) value proposition in our priority markets.
• Drive ongoing curation of compelling industry, customer, and technology proof points that help to uniquely illustrate our thought leadership point of view.
• Develop and execute on marketing a programs for delivering our thought leadership story to target audiences through a range of channels including www.autodesk.com/bim
• Partner with the AEC leadership team on developing, delivering, and maintaining our thought leadership platform and presentations.
• Serve as creative director and chief story architect for the AEC presence at top tier events including Autodesk University and One Team Conference.
• Manage and develop an international team of thought leadership marketers.
• Own how we represent our thought leadership point of view through our digital channels and provide strategic guidance around content strategies for reinforcing our point of view through our web properties
• Build and deliver messaging framework to ensure our thought leadership perspective is reinforced across customer touch points including websites, events, marketing campaigns, PR, and sales engagements.
• Manage thought leadership budget to effectively support goals.
Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience creating, managing and driving thought leadership in high technology business. Agency experience considered. 5+ years of personnel management experience.
• Modern, innovative & omni-channel marketing experience.
• Thirst for provocative ideas that are disrupting the industry.
• Skilled navigator of complex matrix organizations with proven experience working with and influencing virtual teams.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong affinity for building cooperative relationships.
• Master business story teller with exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish credibility and achieve positive impact with senior executives and also in customer and press interactions.
• A team player who is willing to engage in both strategic and tactical work as business needs dictate.
• Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage complex programs while maintaining attention to detail.
• Established skills in PowerPoint are a must. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator) and video editing would be a plus.
• Solid understanding of the AEC industry. Related experience in fields of construction, architecture, or civil engineering will be a huge plus.
• BA/BS degree, preferably in Communications/Marketing. MBA/MA preferred.
