Blackboard’s QA team works very closely with the Engineering, User Experience and Product Management teams, as well as our offshore QA team to solve a wide variety of technology challenges and provide support for test development and execution against Blackboard’s new feature and legacy system releases. Using both industry standard processes and cutting edge technologies, our team works in a dynamic fast-paced environment to deliver new software releases.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Analyzes end user requirements and customer reported defects to design and execute manual or automated tests across a variety of architectures and cutting-edge technologies
• Works with Product Design and Engineering teams to advocate for the development of high quality testable deliverables
• Works hand in hand with our development team while being part of a Quality Assurance community
• Designs, develops, executes, reports, and debugs functional, mobile, browser, accessibility and localization tests
• Communicates progress and escalates issues to management in a timely manner
Professional Qualifications
The candidate will have 2+ years of application testing, and familiarity with programming and/or automation experience
• Can analyze end user requirements or customer reported defects and design, code, and execute tests across a variety of architectures, mobile platforms, and cutting-edge technologies.
• Works hand in hand with our development team while being part of a Quality Assurance community.
• Has independence and self-drive, creativity, and beginning programming skills
• Has ability to quickly gain knowledge and capability for estimating LOE for test development, test execution, and other test activities.
• Quickly earns the respect and trust of other developers.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners
Required Skills:
• Experience in Quality Assurance as an analyst or engineer
• Has taken course work in programming languages
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge in software quality and testing methodologies
• Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving
• Demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional team
• Computer Science or similar degree or appropriate experience that would make the candidate effective in the role.
• Exposure to testing Web-based software applications in a SaaS deployment
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Java programming, or scripting languages, such as Ruby, Perl, Python, JavaScript, Windows and Unix shell scripting, SQL – T-SQL
• Familiarity in an automation framework and automated testing tools
• Experience in developing test tools to improve productivity of test development and execution
• Previous experience in the education industry and e-learning technologies
