Starz is currently seeking a marketing insights and analytics leader to join the Insight and Analytics department. She/he will serve as a change agent in the company – developing and implementing strategies, techniques, and best practices to track, understand, value, and advise on all marketing initiatives. She/he will lead a team focused on one goal: maximizing the value of every marketing dollar spent.
The candidate will be highly collaborative and work cross-functionally to help marketing team achieve aggressive growth and retention targets. The role is highly visible and includes senior management stakeholders within marketing, product, development, and affiliate.
Responsibilities
• Support senior leadership to ensure all marketing related business goals are met
• Build out and lead the marketing insights and analytics team in the following areas:
Media Analysis and Marketing KPIs
• Provide marketing team deep and actionable audience, creative, and platform insights
• Work closely with direct response and media buying agencies to ensure every marketing dollar is spent as efficiently as possible – evaluate audiences and use complex models to assess optimal marketing mixes
• Work closely with SVP, Acquisition to define KPIs and key metrics used in acquisition and retention campaigns
• Work with Executive Director, BI and Data Science in Insights and Analytics department to build descriptive analytics dashboards for all levels of organization, both within the marketing organization and among other departments.
Creative/Audience Testing
• Provide leadership on performance marketing design strategies
• Work closely with Director, Consumer Analytics and Director, Consumption Analytics to fuse survey/sample based insights, consumption metrics, and paid insights campaigns to develop clear and actionable audience and creative recommendations
Marketing Tech/Sales Funnel Support
• Define and own marketing channel attribution process. Partner with internal (web development, BI) and external teams (agencies, attribution providers) to execute.
• Enhance customer profiles by working with third party data providers to license datasets
• Ensure all appropriate customer data is procured, stored, and available to support acquisition and retention efforts
• Work closely with ad sales, product, BI, web development, and other departments to enhance marketing tech stack including DMP, sales funnel optimization products, customer onboarding services, and omnichannel marketing solutions (email and push notification services).
Customer Engagement and Social Analytics
• Select and implement social analytics and listening tools
• Support community management teams with timely and actionable insights
• Maintain deep understanding of social
• Continually monitor social landscape to evaluate creative and narrative opportunities for development team
Required Skills:
• College degree and equivalent work experience
• 7-10 years in marketing analytics
• 2-5 years’ experience working with the major analytics and attribution platforms: Google Analytics, Tune, MixPanel, etc
• 2-5 years’ experience working with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Cognos, etc
• 2-5 years’ experience developing marketing channel attribution structures and methodologies
• 2-5 years working with customer data: collecting, analyzing, and using to enhances acquisition and retention efforts
• Experience licensing data from major third party data providers such as Acxiom, Experian, Epsilon
• Experience selecting and implementing DMPs such as Krux, Adobe, BlueKai
• Strong communications skills, including the abilities to distill and relay data to a variety of audiences, including senior executives
• Have deep understanding of optimization processes (e.g. A/B testing) and experimental design (e.g. identifying the variables, treatment structures, etc)
• Experience working in corporate setting while having comfort with startup-like environment – experiment, fail fast, discern and share intelligence.
• Statistical background including model building experience a significant plus
• Travel to Los Angeles on a bi-weekly or monthly basis
