Associate Director, Industries Research
Conde Nast is looking for a dynamic and passionate leader to join Conde Nast’s growing Customer and Competitive Intelligence team – a strategic, cross-functional group that supports the Conde Nast sales teams and impacts revenue.
We are looking for a confident individual with a strong marketing research background who understands the value of uncovering audience insights from 3rd party research tools, primary research and analytics to support Conde Nast’s sales business. This position requires an analytical and strategic mind that is able to work with varied sources of data and provide insights. Successful candidates will have sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style. The Associate Director, Industries Research will be responsible for supporting multiple industry verticals. This person will report to the Director of Customer & Competitive Intelligence and manage a team of Industry research managers and analysts.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of sales researchers to deliver research and insights that inform sales and marketing strategies across multiple industries
• Act as primary point of contact for sales leaders across the business and provide invaluable insights throughout the entire sales process from new client identification through post-sale renewal
• Play key and active role in sales strategy and go to market discussions as market, industry and data expert
• Collaborate with Director to uncover new methodologies tools that will elevate the insights we provide to our sales partners
• Provide expertise on research, insights and methodologies in client meetings and calls
• Thoroughly understand appropriate uses, limitations, and issues inherent in using acquired third-party information sources
• Have a strong POV on validity of data sources and ensure that all insights are consistent and methodologically sound across the entire team
• Establish best practices and standards for cross-media research analysis and reporting
• Ensure that relevant insights are shared with counterparts within the editorial teams to extract maximal impact from varied data sources
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Arts or Science in a quantitative field of study including business, statistics, math, economics or a related discipline. MBA degree desired.
• 8+ years of experience in sales research
• Proven experience managing, growing, and mentoring a team of highly skilled research teams in a digital media environment
• Management experience and experience working within matrixed organizations
• Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Depth of knowledge on a wide variety of statistical analyses including cluster analysis
• Strong understanding of the print, digital, social, and mobile media and advertising landscapes
• Knowledge of current digital media measurement standards, methodologies, and best practices through organizations such as the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Advertising research Foundation (ARF)
• Experience working with 3rd party research tools including comScore, Nielsen, Kantar, eMarketer, MRI, and Social Analytics tools
