Description
The Senior Experience Designer at Autodesk is an innovative futurist, a creative thinker and a self-motivated team player. Reporting to the Experience Design Manager, the Senior Experience Designer may be asked to work on a range of simulation products, with an immediate focus on simulation products in the additive manufacturing industry (3D metal printing) . The role will require top-notch design skills for both desktop and web products, an ability to translate technical engineering concepts into intuitive workflows, and a strategic mindset and ability to collaborate with different product teams.

The Simulation Experience Design (XD) team provides design capabilities across all Simulation product lines at Autodesk. Located in USA, Poland, China and Australia, the team’s key disciplines include experience design, visual design and research. Together, we support Autodesk’s Simulation products and share a common goal of customer-centricity, connected experiences across our products, and high quality of work product and employee talent.
How You’ll Spend Your Days
• Participating in the experience design strategy by helping to evaluate and identify the intersection of business needs, customer needs, and technical opportunities.
• Constructing compelling artifacts (wireframes, conceptual diagrams, task flows, storyboards, etc.) that outline present conditions and proposed solutions.
• Meeting with customers and development partners to validate designs and make iterative improvements.
• Participating in the continuous improvement of customer experience tools and processes, and scalable experience design standards.
• Assisting in customer research activities during the planning, strategy development, and early design of solutions.
• Partnering with development teams and business leaders to drive successful implementation of great experiences in our software and services.
• Participating in design-thinking exercises to break through organizational silos and collaboratively solve complex design challenges.

What You’ll Need to Bring
• 3-5+ years of professional design experience.
• Ability to visualize and prototype intended solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes or mock-ups to conceptual presentations to highly technical documents and diagrams.
• Ability to present designs to a wide range of audiences, including software development, quality assurance, learning content development, marketing, and sales.
• Up-to-date expertise in human-centered design best practices.
• Familiarity with customer research methods.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas to their essence.
Bonus Points
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interaction design, industrial design, or related field.
• Experience working with engineering or additive manufacturing products and services.
• Software development background.
• Visual or graphic design background.
• Experience with agile software design methods.
• Experience with Autodesk products.
