We are looking for someone passionate about research and ready to lead projects. As a part of Battle.net, you’ll help us understand how our players interact with each other and our products – ecommerce, social systems, mobile, etc.
You’ll use our user-centered design process to understand user motivations, goals, and behaviors. Our process starts by collecting early stage user feedback (before engineering) and working closely with the UX designers to create the right products and features for our players. Besides learning from users upfront, you will also help the team understand and distill academic and industry research, help with stakeholder interviews, analyze data from various sources such as customer service and business intelligence, help lead brainstorms, help designers define goals and strategy, and validate solutions through various research methodologies.
To be successful, you will need to identify which research approach will work best for the question you are trying to answer. Lastly, it is important for you to not be driven by dogma, but be able to self-reflect, and have strong sense of empathy for our players (and humankind in general).
Responsibilities
• Understand what our users are doing and why – Analytics, competitive analysis, interviews, A/B testing, usability, and more
• Define problems and opportunities – Analysis of current behaviors and attitudes combined with product team goals
• Create and show solutions – Create reports and data-driven recommendations to evaluate designs and inspire new ideas
• Iterate based on “validated learning” – Conduct more testing and analysis as you work with designers and others in the company
• Deliver and follow through – Post-launch analysis on metrics and user behavior
Requirements
• Serious passion for user-centered design (no really, we mean it)
• Knows the difference between a project goal and a requirement
• Minimum of 5 years as Researcher, Data Scientist, Usability Specialist, Analytics, or similar
• Experience do user interviews, usability, eye-tracking, surveys, etc.
• Experience with UX research on websites, software applications, games and mobile apps
• Experience using Morae, Ovo Studios, or any other usability logging software
• Examples of data-driven decision-making based on your research
• Examples of easily digestible story-based reports
• Examples of both quantitative and qualitative based decision making
• A degree in Human Factors, HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Social Science, or related discipline
• Basic knowledge of video editing software
• Laid back, but can unleash the fire in your belly to get things done
Applicants must submit a resume URL or PDF of your portfolio or reports.
