Spectrum News NY1is available on channels 1 and 200 for Spectrum customers throughout New York City’s five boroughs. Spectrum News NY1 serves Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island and provides 24-hour local news, politics, features and weather seven days a week. The network is also available on Cablevision systems in Brooklyn and the Bronx on channel 8, on Bright House systems in Central Florida on channel 1210, in Hudson Valley (New York) on channel 1, and in North Carolina on channel 215.
The 24-hour news channel shares content with its sister channels in the Spectrum News Networks family: Spectrum News channels in Albany, Hudson Valley, Syracuse, Binghamton and Buffalo, New York; in Austin and San Antonio, Texas; and in Tampa and Orlando, Florida.
JOB SUMMARY
Develops story or content ideas, considering audience appeal. Plans, coordinates, and edits content for broadcast. Reviews proposals and outlines for broadcast. Post produces shows from inception to completion which requires strong editorial instincts in storytelling, news/ feature construction, an ability to create drama, skills in both long form and short form projects, strong technical skills with the editing equipment as well as strong skills in the creation of visual technique and special effects. Provide edit support for studio based sports shows. Experience with Premiere Pro required. Experience with Dalet newsroom software preferred.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide edit support to Network produced original productions. Extensive cutting of highlights, high-end bumps and montages, as well as long form interviews.
• Responsible for finishing long form story content from across the Spectrum network footprint. Responsible for overall look of long form pieces from an editing stand point.
• Partner with stake holders from production to post production.
• Will ensure that all other programming produced is properly titled, versioned, documented and archived per company standards/policies. Supervises dubbing, subtitling; edits in dubbing; ensures all programming gets on the right play-out list and schedule and sent to the right places.
• Responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that is suitable for editing.
• Demonstrates creative proficiency to create and execute high level video effects using third-party software such as Premiere Pro software experience; Knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, with complex plug-in and filter packages and Pro Tools a plus.
• Uses editing, color correction, motion graphics and sound editing to enhance viewer's experience of the content.
• Responsible for acting as a trusted contributor to the network partners throughout the entire process.
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiencies

• On a number of projects the Producer/Editor will oversee Camera Operations, Production Assistants, etc. in the development of television programs from inception to delivery.
• Producer/Editor will be assigned any number of projects across all of our production areas including Long form original programming content.
• High degree of creative discretion and collaboratively with coordinating producers or other project producers.

Education/Related Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, radio/tv/film, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• 6+ years technical background in non-linear editing and Premiere Pro.
