SPT is looking for a Manager of Original Programming who will be a key member of Crackle’s original programming team. Reporting to the VP of Original Programming, this person will develop both scripted and unscripted original programming with an emphasis on series, features, and other digital formats. The successful hire will generate ideas, solicit material, package with talent, and have existing relationships with agencies, managers, producers, writers, directors, actors, etc.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well in a team and independently. This person will have proven development skills, great relationships, on-set production experience, established taste, and point-of-view with a strong understanding of the emerging digital and traditional entertainment landscapes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review, filter, and champion program concepts from writers, producers, creators, agents, and potential production partners
• Initiate relationships with writers, producers, creators, influencers, directors, managers, actors, and agents in the creative community
• Evaluate and develop material from experienced and credible writer/producers as well as from less experienced writers and creators that have workable concepts
• Identify and evaluate actors, directors, influencers, comics, etc. around whom concepts can be created
• Oversee and participate in all creative aspects of production from casting through editing
• Read and note all scripts
• Package writers, directors, and actors with original IP
• Shepherd projects through a greenlight process
• Interface with show producers and Crackle’s Programming department
• Interface with production executives on production related matters
• Interface with ad sales executives as it relates to building sponsors or integrating brands into the production
• Interface with all other SPT internal customers as needed
Experience:
• Experienced with television development, feature development, or current programming manager/creative executive level role with a minimum of five years’ experience in the development, production, and oversight of original scripted and unscripted shows.
• Extensive experience shepherding show concepts from inception through the development process and into production, including but not limited to identification of viable show concepts, packaging, providing notes during the writing process, evaluating casting choices, evaluating directors and providing notes on episodic rough cuts, etc. is required. Experience overseeing physical production or on-set experience is a bonus.
• Familiar with and comfortable in the digital marketplace as well as television and feature worlds.
• Extensive contacts in the television, feature, digital space including agents, managers, creators, producers, influencers, etc.
• Knowledge of budgeting, final draft, film/TV/digital production
• Skilled in story development
• Ability to package film/TV projects, generate writers, directors, actor lists, track TV and feature specs, seek out valuable I.P.
• B.A. in a related field
