Purpose
This is a design role within the Visual Design team for Pearson English.
You will be responsible for understanding and translating customer needs into creative visual identity and exciting design concepts for printed and digital products, then directing the application of design through the production phase.
You will present design work to customers and key members of the English Portfolio team and gather and incorporate feedback.
Key Accountabilities
• Working collaboratively with design colleagues, content specialists and responding to customer needs, you will be responsible for producing creative, high-quality design for print and digital products which engage and attract new and existing learners and teachers of English, through both a hands-on design and design vendor management approach.
• Commissioning, contracting and managing design and illustration vendors.
• Providing estimates, negotiating costs and tracking costs for project design tasks.
• Advocating product brand design and style consistency across all products.
• Inspiring co-workers and collaborating with them to produce inventive, creative, thoughtful and relevant design work.
• Understanding and following Pearson Standards guidelines.
Key Relationships
• Visual Designers, Portfolio Managers (Publishers), Content Developers, Digital and Media Producers, UX Designers, Courseware Designers and Marketing team.
Qualifications
Role-specific attributes
• Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Graphic Design, or relevant experience.
• Experience in design for educational publishing and the translation of pedagogical needs into successful visual design and / or an outstanding design portfolio.
• Skills in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Good organisational skills.
• Excellent written English and English verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to multi-task and find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
• Strong team-working skills and desire to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
• Design enthusiast who keeps up to date with new design and technology trends.
