Designer, Knopf
Penguin Random House has a new exciting opportunity for a Designer to join the Knopf Marketing department. Reporting to the Director of Advertising, the Designer will create print and digital advertising, as well as work with colleagues on creative assets for consumer and sales marketing assets for a wide variety of hardcover fiction and nonfiction titles across the Knopf, Pantheon, and Schocken imprints. The Designer thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and should be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and problem-solving.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Design print advertising, including magazine, newspaper, and outdoor ads, as well as in-store and promotional materials
• Devise and create digital assets, including display ads, motion graphics, video, social media materials, and email creative
• Establish branding and identity for our books
• Stay up-to-date on current best practices and trends in design thinking, web technologies and usability, and share information with design and marketing teams
• Support marketing and publicity departments in executing special design projects
Requirements
• A passion and eye for good typography and trends in design
• Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CC: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects
• Working knowledge of MS Office programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong knowledge of typefaces and typography, design, and editorial page layout
• Working knowledge of designing for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus
• Familiarity with Final Cut Pro preferred
• Ability to think creatively and be an effective problem-solver, while staying on schedule
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to tackle projects independently
• Working understanding of social media sites and tools
• Collaborative nature and desire to communicate design thinking
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 2 years design experience
