Executive Producer – Spectrum News San Antonio
SUMMARY
Manages the production of all station programs or a program group such as features, sports, or news. Accountable for the delivery of daily programs for a shift of designated group. Ensures quality, accuracy and relevance of program content. Sets program performance goals and production standards.
Schedule: Varies according to shift. Requires day, night, weekend, and on-call availability, especially during inclement weather. May work some holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises on-air product, including editorial content, graphic look and continuity. Generates daily and future story and coverage ideas. Select stories for coverage and manage editorial product in conjunction with News managers. Oversees line-up of newscasts and makes changes as necessary. Edits, critiques and approves scripts.
• Writes scripts, provides background for interviews, and coordinates breaking news/weather coverage. Assigns editing and graphics responsibilities to staff.
• Coordinates night side production with technical directors, as well as producers and executive producers.
• Organizes and delegates assignments.
• Manages workgroup scheduling, performance reviews and approves request for time off. Approves timesheets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field is preferred.
• 3-6 years of news experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability for effective teamwork and attention to detail.
• Must be detail oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
• Must work well under pressure and have excellent problem solving skills.
• Responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge of current events, societal trends and general news topic of interest to our viewers.
• General understanding and appreciation for the tenets of journalism and television news gathering.
