As part of the Business Intelligence discipline, you will lead and help grow our advanced analytics practice, focusing on establishing descriptive and predictive services that enable a deeper understanding of consumers, from inspiration to intent. You will partner with Product and Editorial teams across Meredith’s portfolio of iconic lifestyle brands, which include Better Homes and Gardens and Allrecipes, to create great experiences, value, utility, and inspiration for our audience.
II. Essential Job Functions
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
• Manage Audience Insights Services: Oversee the continued development and enhancement of our audience analytics services, which enable insight into consumer interests, motivations, and journeys. Identify and operationalize key behavioral attributes. Contribute to planning, solution design, solution development, and governance.
• Lead an Advanced Analytics Practice: Lead, manage, mentor, and inspire a team of analysts focused on audience engagement. Provide input on cross-team advanced analytics efforts. Seek to constantly improve and evolve our services, productivity, and efficiency through automation, prioritization, and process optimization.
• Provide Descriptive and Predictive Analysis: Partner with the Product and Editorial teams to drive engagement initiatives. Contribute to experiment design and analysis. Build forecasts and models to help understand potential business impact. Deliver recommendations that help teams achieve business objectives.
• Contribute to Strategy and Innovation: Participate in strategic development and near and long term team planning. Stay abreast of industry trends, leading edge platforms and technical frameworks. Initiate and oversee exploratory proofs of concept with internal and external partners. Translate big ideas into actionable plans.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Master’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s in a quantitative field, such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, data science or other sciences, such as psychology or physics or equivalent experience.
Experience:
• 7 years of experience in quantitative analysis, working with large data sets.
• 5 years of increasing leadership responsibility, providing direction and mentorship to diverse teams in local and remote offices.
• Proven ability to understand business needs and translate those needs to technical requirements and technical solutions.
• Proven ability to evolve a strategy to a set of objectives and a tactical execution plan.
• Experience with machine learning techniques is desired.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
ESSENTIAL:
• Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques and proficiency with statistical packages such as R, SPSS, SAS, MATLAB, Stata, etc. and experience applying data analytics, statistics, and forecasting to business problems.
• Intermediate programming skills within big data frameworks such as Hive/Hadoop; intermediate proficiency with SQL and scripting languages such as Python, PHP, Perl, etc.
• Ability to develop holistic understanding of consumer behavior by combining and analyzing data from a variety of sources, including web analytics, survey data, and third party data sources.
• Ability to translate business questions to technical requirements.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, including verbal, written, listening, and presentation.
• Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Be able to think strategically and act tactically. Willing to roll up your sleeves and do what needs to be done.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment as both a leader and an individual contributor.
• Be a problem-solver, not just a problem alerter. Problem alerters are a dime a dozen. It is easy to sit around and point out the flaws of any system, product or organization. Meredith needs problem solvers. Problem solvers are the real innovators in this world.
