The VP is the lead executive under the President of WW Strategic Marketing and Research and is the “go to” executive for the EVP. The VP is responsible for complete and total oversight of all research endeavors conducted by the department. This includes all creative testing, research screenings, tracking, positioning studies, brand studies, production research, custom studies, database upkeep, marketplace analysis and cross-divisional endeavors.
This position requires constant exposure to all senior level management, including the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the studio as well as all levels of filmmakers and executives. This position requires the ability to present findings, speak to any and all research activity, travel when needed and cross-divisional communication.
The position is directly responsible for supervising all Columbia, Screen Gems, TriStar and Studio 8 recruited audience screenings and Friends & Family screenings on the lot. These screenings are both production and marketing orientated, and include significant out of town travel. Supervising screenings requires an intimate knowledge of post-production and the highest proficiency in analyzing data to formulate clear, actionable details for the production of our films. Moreover, this position requires significant face to face meetings with high caliber filmmakers and the top executives of the studio, including the chairman.
There is a heavy load of qualitative research writing with this position. This includes, but is not limited to, screening reports, tracking analysis, script coverage, positioning studies, brand analysis, creative testing reports and marketplace analysis.
The VP position oversees 3 employees (two managers and an assistant) and is responsible for the managerial and administrative functions of the department. The VP will conduct reviews and aid in determining merit increases and bonuses where applicable.
Responsibilities:
• Complete and total oversight of all research endeavors
• Presenting all findings to senior management and filmmakers
• Supervise all research screenings for every Columbia, Screen Gems, TriStar and Studio 8 movie, both in town and out of town
• Manage qualitative research writing
• Departmental oversight of administrative and managerial activity.
• Complete and total daily oversight of the department and all research endeavors
• Presentation of findings to senior management and filmmakers
• Oversees all qualitative research writing
• The candidate will be the lead executive for the department on screenings for all Columbia, Screen Gems, TriStar and Studio 8 screenings. This includes extensive interaction with all filmmakers and top executives. The position requires the highest level of analysis of research data and professionalism. Specifically, this includes being directly responsible for inviting all attendees to recruited audience screenings, creating the questionnaire for respondents, analyzing all data yielded from the questionnaire (both open ends and close ended data), and summarizing the views reflected in the focus groups. This is all presented to the chairman of the studio, directors, top production executives to directly inform changes in production of our films.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 4-6 years of experience
• Individual must possess extreme proficiency in written and quantitative skills; SPSS/ Regression Analysis are mandatory; Extremely strong working knowledge of creative advertising process
• Extremely strong analytical skills; Quantitative and Qualitative research background is a must; Familiarity with methodologies and the latest approaches to Ad Testing, Branding and Positioning; Basic understanding of Final Cut Pro is not mandatory, but is quite helpful
• Must be detailed oriented and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and oral communication as well as presentation skills
