Department Description:
The WMG Global Technology Project Management Office was created to unify the global IT portfolio, program, & project management competencies under one organization. We are responsible for the people, processes, & tools needed to provide these competencies to the global WMG Technology Organization and its customers. We are enabling the move to one unified, global IT organization by establishing & implementing best practices, and maintaining standards related to portfolio, program, & project management, planning, & execution. We provide a central repository for project methods, documentation, and metrics. We strive to improve the consistency, efficiency, and costs of global program & project delivery and to drive improved benefits realization through effective planning.

Portfolio Director
High Level Job Description:
Reporting to the Global Technology Project Management Office (PMO), the Portfolio Director will lead the planning and execution for one or more portfolios as defined by WMG’s IT Transformation Roadmap. These individuals will support the business and technology leaders of their assigned portfolios through roadmap creation, prioritization, and execution. The Portfolio Director is accountable for planning, release cadence, epic/capability/feature/story completion, demos, documentation, and stakeholder management across the portfolio. They will need to manage risks and dependencies across the portfolio, escalating to the portfolio leadership team as needed.
The Portfolio Director will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day execution of projects within the portfolio and ensuring that they meet the overall goals and objectives of the portfolio roadmap. The Portfolio Director will be responsible for portfolio-level processes and execution, escalating impediments, managing risk, and driving portfolio-level continuous improvement. Together with portfolio leadership, the Portfolio Director will direct priorities and resolve escalations with talent, process, or technology.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Manages & optimizes the portfolio roadmap together with the owning business and technology leaders
• Establishes and communicates the portfolio calendar
• Organizes and leads quarterly portfolio planning sessions to identify, prioritize & refine portfolio increments
• Aggregates & publishes portfolio increment objectives
• Assist with execution and feature/capability completion tracking
• Facilitates portfolio-level meetings and reviews, including demos, planning sessions, monthly portfolio reviews for key stakeholders, scrum-of-scrums, and portfolio-level retrospectives.
• Assists in the creation of quarterly Transformation status readouts for the WMG Executive Steering Committee and bi-annual readouts to the WMG Board
• Manages portfolio-level budget and tracking of actuals against plan. Assists with economic decision-making by facilitating feature/capability estimation by project teams and rolling these estimates up to the portfolio level
• Ensures documentation quality and proper use of delivery tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA),
• Responsible for stakeholder management across the release cycle
• Escalates and tracks impediments, risks, and issues
• Manages intra- and inter-portfolio dependencies
• Provide input on resource allocations to address bottlenecks
• Work with Product Owners and other portfolio leaders to ensure alignment between execution and strategy
• Listens and supports teams in problem identification and decision-making
• Creates an environment of mutual influence
• Coaches teams to collaborate
• Drive continuous improvement

Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Experience with, or certification in, SAFe Methodology
• PMP Certification
• Atlassian suite experience
Education/Experience Required:
• Undergraduate or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline
• Ability to demonstrate expertise with at least 10 years of progressive program and portfolio management experience managing large-scale cross-functional and global programs
• Demonstrable success at program delivery within an environment that includes a matrixed, global organization
• Must be a team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment. Understanding of the servant leader role and experience in helping teams to be self-organizing and self-managing
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
• Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
• Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and cross organizational boundaries
• Ability to work well with senior technology and business leaders
• Experience creating communications and messaging for C-suite executives
• Creative, resourceful and innovative problem solver
