SOUND SUPERVISOR
Calling all Heroes! The World of Warcraft sound team is looking for a full-time Sound Supervisor to bolster their ranks. Our ideal champion must have a strong creative vision and an internal desire to wield mighty sonic weaponry in their pursuit of audio perfection. Come join our audio guild and help us to create the future sound of the World of Warcraft franchise.
Our ideal candidate needs to have extensive industry experience with sound design, environmental audio and team management on several AAA game projects. As the leader of the WoW sound design team you will be responsible for nurturing and evolving the creative direction and be capable of communicating this sonic vision effectively to our sound designers. You should be comfortable in operating in a professional manner while consistently providing creative feedback and guidance to the sound team in order to align creative vision and to ensure that Blizzard quality standards are achieved. Candidates must also possess strong self-management skills and a willingness to freely share knowledge and techniques with other staff members in a highly collaborative environment especially in mentoring junior and mid-level sound designers.
The Sound Supervisor works closely with the game designers, artists, and engineers to bring their characters, creatures, and environments to life. The Sound Supervisor will partner with Production to develop team goals, assignments, and ensure that the project milestones are being met. Together they will coordinate with the other audio discipline leads across Dialog, Music and Cinematics in crafting an audio experience that compliments and melds seamlessly with game-play.
Requirements
• Game audio credits on several shipped AAA titles as Audio Lead and/or Supervisor.
• Industry leading experience specifically creating outstanding sound for games.
• Experience designing sounds for fantasy games (ex: creatures, spells, combat).
• Mastery of your DAW of choice (Nuendo or Pro Tools preferred).
• Experience coordinating sound effect recording sessions for source material in your design work.
• Experience creatively producing sound effects, backgrounds, foley and UI for games.
• Experience working with commercial and/or proprietary audio implementation tools.
• Able to work with equal effectiveness in both team and solo creative environments.
• Strong understanding of technical audio theory and audio engineering concepts.
• Experience working in an iterative game development environment specifically in audio.
• Experience working with commercial and/or proprietary audio implementation tools.
• Experience mixing in stereo and surround-sound formats.
• Experience editing and conforming sound-to-picture.
• Experience using and troubleshooting Windows and/or Macintosh operating systems
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
Pluses
• Development experience with MMOs.
• Current player in World of Warcraft.
• Knowledge and understanding of the World of Warcraft sound and universe.
• "Building block DSP" such as Kyma, Max / MSP, or Reaktor expertise.
• Scripting and/or light programming knowledge.
• Experience developing games that utilize FMod.
• Passion for playing and making videogames.
