Location: Washington, D.C.
Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Position Summary:
Responsible for producing The Joe Madison Show and additional projects as directed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with host and channel director on development of original content, including recommendation and development of ideas and concepts to appeal to target audience.
• Produces live talk programs, specials, event/remote broadcasts and short form features.
• Makes creative content decisions for program segments and features.
• Works with the programming team to identify talent, select and book guests.
• Manages the studio and respective operations during live program.
• Has full responsibility for the sound and "feel" of the show; this includes control of the audio board for live and taped programs, audio edits for on-air use, system loading to determine the appropriate mix of sounds elements, pre-program scheduling and audio quality.
• Networks with people in the magazine, PR, radio and TV industries to ensure that the brand is recognized and promoted.
• Writes imaging and features and collaborates with the channel's Executive Producer to have them created.
• Designs and produces "best of" library and emergency procedures for show.
• Coaches talent and aides in the development of hosts and talent.
• Independently develops and researches topics for discussion.
• Identifies, books, and pre-interviews guests. Develops questions for interviews.
• Creates, writes, prepares and reviews daily news stories for programs.
• Develops and maintains relationships with newsmaker contacts.
• Collaborates on the development of program features and special production.
• Posts shows and specials On Demand.
• Pulls relevant media clips before the show for use within the program.
• Identifies and pulls clips from the show to post to Soundcloud for press and social media use.
• Posts to channel social media pages during show.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 4 years of media experience and background working with high profile talent.
Requirements and General Skills:
• Strong attention to detail.
• Passion for breaking news, current events, and the 24/7 news cycle.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize and change direction under shifting situations -- including ability to work nights, weekends, holidays.
• Strong project management ability.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Works effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
• Entrepreneurial spirit; excited about the future of digital content.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with audio software and basic studio operations preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
