Head of Production Finance, Originals
Reports directly to the SVP of Production.
Works with the Production Finance team overseeing the budgeting and cash flow of all Starz Original Series and development. This role oversees both the in house Production Finance Group as well as series production accounting teams. This role is also the primary point of contact between the Originals Group and Corporate Finance, Accounting, and Treasury, exchanging information on production, development, and departmental financials.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Oversee the creation and approval of all production budgets for Starz Original series.
• Prepare and/or approve cash flows for various projects.
• Oversee the Starz Production Finance Department staff.
• Lead the selection and approval of Financial Controllers, Key Accountants, and all accounting departments across Starz Original Series.
• Track, process, and otherwise administer tax incentives as needed across the Originals.
• Engage with insurance brokers, incentive brokers, film commissions, payroll companies, banks and myriad other key production service vendors
• Engage with other Starz departments including Legal and Business Affairs, Treasury, Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Public Relations on all things related to Production Finance and Production Accounting.
• Engage with Unions and Guilds and their Pension and Health Plans
• Oversee Starz interests in necessary audits.
• Forecast Slate Financial Scenarios and Long Range Planning for Starz Originals.
• Oversee month, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in to Corporate.
• Consult with Treasury on hedging currencies for overseas productions.
• Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of the Originals Department.
• Travel to productions as needed worldwide.
Required Skills:
Education and Experience:
• 10-15+ years of progressive experience in an Accounting/Finance role within a studio, network, production company, or relevant
• Experience as a Financial Controller/Lead accountant for scripted series television.
• International production experience/knowledge essential.
• Experience working within a Studio and/or Network environment.
• Knowledge of current tax incentive programs, domestic and abroad.
• Must have strong understanding of union and guild agreements.
• Ability to work in a demanding, high pressure and time sensitive environment.
• Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with showrunners, talent, network executives, etc.
• Familiarity with production insurance, both foreign and domestic.
• Ability to draw on existing relationships within the industry.
• Strong capability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
• Must be able to travel.
