The events specialist position is responsible for planning and executing various Hartford Courant Media Group (HCMG) and client events. The ideal candidate will have a solid events background, including a proven record of creating and implementing event operations, production, sponsorships and marketing plans. This position will plan, execute, and implement components from conceptualization of events, sponsorships, budgeting and to on-site set up and activations and teardown. Working in a team environment the events specialist will work with all team members, cross departmentally and with various business units on a variety of events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage projects from concept through logistical execution including the timely delivery of all deadlines and materials ensuring fiscally responsible development and execution, with appropriate accountability and oversight on all projects.
• Negotiate all aspects of contractual agreements for partnerships and outside vendor relationships in order to achieve the greatest benefits for our brands and our clients.
• Research new and existing clients for partnership and/or sponsorship prospects that our brands and clients would benefit from across all events.
• Internal contact between departments for annual event scheduling, marketing plan, and budgeting.
• Create and update various department reports, keep track of event results, budgets, staffing, volunteers, and internal recaps.
• Create and present new event concepts to increase revenue.
• Maintain onsite vendor relations to enhance consumer experience.
• Responsibilities include implementing components of sponsorship pre, post and during the duration of events; physically setting up & tearing down event site or activation, manage proper engagement throughout event marketing and promotions to drive relationship and ensure future opportunities.
• Manage onsite staff ranging from 2-40 people at events.
• Transporting materials for use at events, such as premiums and sales materials, either using personal vehicle or rental truck.
• Ability to organization, multi-task and maintain professional customer service skills.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4-year undergraduate degree or equivalent related event/production experience.
• Three-to-five years of events, marketing, advertising and production experience preferred.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, writing, planning, organizational and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and social media.
• Ability to lead as well as follow and execute instructions effectively
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment, and be able to interact effectively with other team members, management and customers
• Ability to manage multiple projects, manage time wisely, and prioritize projects and people while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Must be solution driven with a high degree of resourcefulness, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
• Must be a strong conceptual thinker, with ability to create strong concepts.
• Ability to organize, multi-task and maintain professional customer service skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and be key decision maker both onsite and in a business setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Connecticut drivers’ license and own a vehicle with insurance.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Travel occasionally required up to 20%
• Must be able to change work assignments on short notice and be able to work any shift, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
