Director, Product Development Engineering (SPACE)

As the leader of the cloud product engineering team, you will help design, develop, and deploy data and network intensive services on internal and external clouds. the cloud product engineering team work with?
Cloud Product Engineering is positioned between the larger cloud team and customers with their workloads. We work with developers, network engineers, systems administrators, software engineers, and a pile of technically-adept-but-not-actually-technical product folks. The cloud team is a diverse group of engineers with backgrounds in development, systems, network, security, and storage. We're a group of experienced technical minds that enable our customers successfully deploy their products to the cloud.
What are some interesting problems you'll be working on?
In your role, you will enable our internal clients to meet their product requirements within cloud environments. By delivering software-based network and storage solutions such as messaging platforms, in-memory databases, batch processing, and cloud storage products at scale on internal and external clouds, your role will have an impact on Comcast products. Solutions such as Kafka, Spark, and object storage, need to be scaled on our internal cloud, automated and prepared for operational support. You will work with the larger cloud engineering team, the cloud architecture team, and the cloud SRE team to produce products for our customers to utilize as part of our cloud product portfolio.

Interacting with several teams who are all striving to solve their data management issues around ephemeral and persistent needs. You will be uniquely positioned to bring your expertise to the customers and assist them in achieving their goals.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a DevOps team to develop Comcast's next-gen private cloud products focused on storage and networking to integrate with solutions such as: Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, Openstack, VMWare vSphere and public clouds like AWS and Azure.
• Provides complexity and cost estimation. Develops case studies, roadmaps and models to influence strategic spending. Ensures effective implementation of the department budget. Prepares financial statements and monthly forecasts and reports. Prepares and analyzes monthly financial performance and makes budget and new technology recommendations.
• Create automation, employ open source software, interact with API's, and enable CI/CD to create new cloud features, harvest/visualize metrics, monitor health/performance/capacity using infrastructure as code methodologies.
• Partner with product and development teams to provide education and design consultation.
• Automate installs of popular big data tools with Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Go running on cloud environments.
• Integrate our products into existing internal cloud portals through the use of APIs and collaboration with other development teams.
• Work collaboratively across teams to productize solutions.
Skills & Requirements
• Extensive knowledge of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.) and solid Experience with Version Control systems GitHub.
• Innovating with open source software to create production services.
• 10+ years programming experience in Python, Go, node.js, JavaScript, or Java.
• 5+ years of automation experience with Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Understanding of domain-driven design, and 12-Factor applications.
• 8+ years of experience in development/maintenance of Enterprise Web Applications.
• Experience in designing and deploying cloud-native enterprise applications in public or private cloud.
• Experience with Agile (Scrum) project methodology and practices.
• Hands-on experience in PaaS (Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk) and IaaS environments (Azure, AWS, Google, OpenStack, etc.)
• Experience with open source and development platforms such as Spring/Java, Ruby/Rails, Go, Python, messaging (RabbitMQ/AMQP, JMS), RDBMS, NoSQL and Hadoop.
• Excellent communication skills and able to successfully articulate technology concepts to both business and technical audience.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly understand business requirements, propose reference architectures, and possible technology solutions. Must be capable of presenting options and weigh implementation complexities and risks to recommend the right technical decision.
• Experience in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints.
